Team Lead Quality at FLSmidth

Role Purpose:

• Quality Lead position is to ensure that all external and internal requirements are met before our product reaches our customers.
• You will be responsible for inspection procedures and outputs and identifying mistakes or non-conformity issues. The goal is to assure the high quality of our operations and services enabling the long-term success of our business. You will need to liaise with other managers and staff throughout the organisation to ensure that the quality control management system is functioning properly.
• Where appropriate, you'll advise on changes and how to implement them and provide training, tools and techniques to enable others to achieve quality standards.
• Manage the full cycle of any warranty related activities from initiation to closure.

Your responsibilities

Quality Control

• Setting requirements for raw material or intermediate products from suppliers and monitoring their compliance
• Work with purchasing staff to establish quality requirements from external suppliers.
• Define quality procedures in conjunction with operating staff.
• Complying with ISO accreditation requirements
• Keep accurate documentation and perform statistical analysis.
• Solicit feedback from customers to assess whether their requirements are met.
• Be on the lookout for opportunities for improvement and develop new efficient procedures.
• Ensure evaluation of, and reporting on, vendor quality systems
• Responsible for accuracy and timely inspection/calibration of monitoring and measuring devices.
• Ensures proper documentation has been completed and sign offs performed.
• Conduct first offs and final inspections.

Leading the department

• Manage all staff related issues as required.
• Coaching, mentoring and development of inspection staff.
• Supervise inspectors, provide guidance and feedback.
• Oversee product recalls, warranty claims and customer quality complaints.
• Manage the monitoring, measurement, and review of internal processes, especially those that affect the quality of the organization’s products.
• Report to management on the performance of the QMS (e.g., results of quality audits, corrective actions), including the need for improvement.
• Keep in feel for all the quality requirements related to the business.

• What you bring
• Relevant engineering qualification – minimum Trade tested.
• Relevant technical qualification especially in welding and fabrication procedures i.e. SAIW qualification.
• A quality related qualification or extensive experience ISO 9001 etc.
• 10 years' experience in a medium to heavy engineering environment.
• Demonstrated manufacturing, production and leadership skills.
• Knowledge of FLS mining equipment

• Raw materials and heat treatment practices
• Quality systems and standards
• Sound knowledge and understanding in all measuring equipment.
