    Technical Document Writer

    The Job

    • Develop comprehensice and detailed technical documentation (Technical Design Specifications, Interface Specifications) in accordance with best practice methodologies and strategic organisational initiatives in conjunction with Solution Architects, Technical Architects and Developers.
    • Generate detailed Function/Technical Specifications (FTS) for use by developers utilising, but not limited to, tools such as Enterprise Architect.
    • Effective database design capabilities and the use of tools in this space to generate complete database schemas (ERD) as an integrap part of the FTS.

    Comprehensive understanding of and experience with using UML as a basis for modeling of analysis, design and implementation requirements.

    5. Component and deployment diagrams
    • Maintain up-to-date, clearly versioned, technical documentation and associated document register within defined document repositories aligned to specific software releases/versions.
    • Evaluate and determine solution and architecture deficiencies to collaborate with Solution and Technical Architects and make recommendations to ensure continuous improvement.
    • Generate comprehensive Interface Specifications in conjunction with Technical Architect/Developer for use by external systems/services as may be required.
    • Ensure compliance with the enture SDLC - design, documentation (ensuring document versioning and submission to repository) build, testing and handover to operations/support.

    Minimum requirements:

    • Grade 12, Normal literacy and BSc / Engineering degree
    • Minimum 5 years proven industry related experience.
    • A minimum of 2 years' experience as a Technical Document Writer in a Telecoms Software Development and Support environment would be a definite advantage.

    Additional:

    • In depth Java understanding including J2EE, Spring, CAMEL and associated technologies.
    • Experience and Knowledge in CSS and HTML
    • KInowledge of telecommunication network architecture, interfaces and protocols e.g USSD, SMPP, CC#7 (INAP, CAMEL etc), DIAMETER (AAA)
    • Understanding and knowledge of a multitude of operating systems including Linux.
    • In-depth understanding of SQL and industry standard databases.
    • Knowledge of and experience with Atlassian suite of products:-
    • Jira
    • Bitbucket
    • Confluence
    • Understanding of best practice methodologies/standards such as ITIL, COBIT, TOGAF, ISO 9001 etc
    • Understanding of Dev/Ops culture and CI/CD pipeline tools and aumotation processes.

    Knowledge and understanding of best of breed open source stacks and associated applications/tools

    • Kubernetes

    • Elastic Search/Kibana
    • Istio/Kiali/Jaeger
    • Prometheus/Grafana
    • Heketi/Gluster
    • Ansible
