Technical SME, Risk IT at Standard Bank Group

Job Purpose
To be the Subject Matter Expert in the technical domain by providing solutions and advice to the Engineering Lead across technology stacks. To provide technical solutions to meet the needs of stakeholders by interpreting requirements, defining technical tasks, engineering quality software, performing full testing, as well as supporting and troubleshooting application software and database issues.

Key Responsibilities/Accountabilities

• Manage the definition, documentation and development of application code to ensure solutions meets documented requirements
• Provide operational maintenance and production support including consultation, facilitation and implementation of Technical domain functionality to ensure departmental system relevance, availability and continuity
• Building relationships with stakeholders to understand key stakeholder requirements to ensure management of key stakeholder satisfaction
• Remain and maintain awareness of relevant technical domain to ensure align with evolving industry trends and best practices
• Provide technical expertise in the relevant IT domain to ensure operational effectiveness of delivered solutions
• Mentor, educate and coach team members to enable cross-skilling and continuity within the development team

Preferred Qualification and Experience
Qualifications:

• Honours degree in Information Systems or Computer Science, or equivalent
• Masters' Degree in Information Systems or Computer Science Preferred.

Experience:

• 10+ years Application Development and Support experience
• Experience in working in a variety of technical areas within IT.
• Understanding and experience of the various disciplines within IT and how they relate to each other.
• Understanding and experience in working with software development, infrastructure and networks spanning the front-end, middleware and back-end. Have the ability to translate technical speak into layman’s language and to operate and understand the technical detail, but communicate in terms that Business will understand.
• Is able to design, code, test, correct and document large and/or complex programs and program modifications from system specifications / design documents using agreed standards and tools Can take part in reviews of own work and lead reviews of colleagues’ work.
• 7+ years experience in dealing with all levels of the business and technology stakeholders across large organizations.

Experience in defining conceptual, logical and physical infrastructure domain. Would be considered the SME in the domain and have industry recognition.
