Technician: Energy Operations at Govan Mbeki Municipality

ANNUAL BASIC SALARY: R 626 172.00 (post level 05) plus normal company benefits

Requirements:

• Grade 12
• National Diploma (NQF Level 6) in Electrical Engineering
• Three (03) Five (05) years relevant experience
• Valid Code B (08) Driver License
• Computer literacy: MS Office Applications
• Eligibility for registration as a Professional Engineer. Registration as a Professional Engineer with ECSA will be an added advantage
• Knowledge of applicable legislation, including Municipal Systems Act, Municipal Finance Management Act, and other relevant frameworks.
• Strong leadership, strategic planning, project management, and financial management skills.

The successful applicant / candidate must possess competencies as published in Annexure A of the Local Government: Municipal Staff Regulations promulgated in Government Gazette 45181 of 20 September 2021
Key Performance Areas:

• Planning and organizing of work according to the Budget Implementation Plan
• Ensure compliance with the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
• Planning and controlling of daily activities and leading the work force
• Compilation of yearly operation budget and the controlling thereof
• Compiling maintenance programs and work procedures
• Chairing of planning meetings and monitor execution of tasks
• Compilation and reading of electrical drawings
• Application of sound engineering standards
• Comply with OHS Act and relevant regulations
• Prepare overhead and / or underground designs for electric line extensions & system modifications for highly complex & multi-faceted projects.
• Take a lead project role of the preparation & review of design & associated technical drawings & prepare accurate material lists & costs.
• Prepare detailed support documents such as construction drawings, topographic profiles, work order information, costs, staking sheets, easements,
• permits, etc. associated with electric service which are compliant with current requirements of the utility.
• Prepare reports for supervision or management related to estimated cost & expenditures based on accounting principles for service projects or Capital Improvement Projects.
• Assist utility Planning department with mapping & data corrections or updates to the distribution system based on assigned & overseen projects.
• Assist System Planning function with preparation of annual Capital Improvement Project budget.
• Promote teamwork amongst the engineering & operation departments & employees.
• Interpret & implements regulatory codes of South Africa
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Senior Management
