Tractor Driver/Operator at Department of Agriculture(DOA)

REQUIREMENTS :

• Applicants must be in a possession of a Grade 10 Certificate (NQF 3) A Minimum of Five (5) years driving and operating specialised equipment experience.
• Job Related Knowledge: Knowledge of operation of the equipment. Physical inspection of vehicles and interpret instruction for proper use of all controls for safe operation of vehicles. Planting and harvesting of crops. Interpret and follow operating manuals. Maintenance manuals and service charts.
• Job Related Skills: Operating a tractor. Operating specialised machinery such as a TLB, Bulldozer etc. Using of different implements. Road maintenance. Communication skills. Ability to read and write. Good eyesight. Teamwork. A Valid driver’s license Code EC and operating Certificate. 

DUTIES :

• Operates tractor with various implements to assist with physical execution of various general farming activities. Perform routine maintenance and preparations of vineyards, Orchards, nurseries and experimental site at PQS. Perform the implementation and equipment maintenance and administrative support. Ensure safe storage, cleaning and routine maintenance and repair of implements and equipment.
• Operate Specialised Machinery. Operation of specialised equipment such as boilers, pressurizers, autoclaves, tractors, brush cutters, mowers, spray pumps, and front-end loaders. Perform basic maintenance and repair of tractors, implements and equipment. Perform general technical support with pest control in quarantine facilities. Responsible for pesticide application according to recommendations from PQS. Assist with preparation and mixing of pesticides according to recommendations as well as manual spot spray application of pants in facilities.
