JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Senior Training Officer, the Training Officer will be responsible for equipping staff with the necessary knowledge, practical skills, and motivation to perform their work tasks effectively. This role involves participating in continuous improvement initiatives and related projects to enhance the efficiency of the Training & Development Department and the overall workforce of the company.

THE SUCCESSFUL APPLICANT
In order to be shortlisted for vacancy, the successful candidate will have the following skills and competencies, but not limited to:

• Minimum qualification: Grade 12 / NQF Level 4 with at least 5 years of relevant boat building experience and a YBB Level 4 qualification or a relevant red seal qualification.
• Idea qualification:
  • National Diploma in Education, Training & Development Practitioner (ETDP / HR)
  • Qualified facilitator and assessor
  • Qualified moderator
• Strong knowledge of the Skills Development Act.
• Experience with composites is a plus.
• Solid understanding of quality management and continuous improvement principles.
• Proficient in all aspects of boat building.
• Excellent working knowledge of MS Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
• Ability and willingness to work overtime and under pressure
• Strong interpersonal and influencing skills.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills to provide clear information and advice.
• Effective presentation skills.
• Problem-solving and negotiation skills.
• Detail-oriented and diligent in task execution.
• Strong organisational and planning skills to manage time effectively and meet deadlines.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The role responsibilities will include, but not limited to:

Operational Excellence

• Establish and co-manage the SDC at the designated factory or factories.
• Identify training and development needs within departments by conducting skills audits and consulting regularly with factory, department, and line managers.
• Develop and maintain the Skills Matrix for various lines and departments.
• Create and update a comprehensive Training Plan based on the needs of the organization, departments, and individual employees.
• Collaborate with a team to design training programs that meet the needs of all stakeholders.
• Develop in-house training course materials and presentations.
• Facilitate the onboarding process for new employees.
• Oversee the delivery of training and development programs.
• Conduct and facilitate various training programs, including technical, supervisory, and EHS-related programs as needed.
• Monitor and evaluate the progress of trainees through assessments, questionnaires, and discussions with managers.
• Ensure compliance with all statutory training requirements.
• Accurately record all training and development activities.
• Assess and improve training programs as needed to adapt to changes in the work environment.

Quality Assurance

• Maintain and adhere to quality standards consistently.

Continuous Improvement

• Identify gaps and root causes, and implement corrective and measurable solutions.
• Influence the reduction of quality defects within the factories where deployed.
