    Transport Manager

    • RCL FOODS is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transport Manager to join our Sunshine Bakery Team  based in Durban.
    • The successful incumbent will be responsible for the effective management of workshops, depots, and staff, ensuring that the entire fleet is maintained in a safe, reliable, and roadworthy condition within approved budget constraints. The role will also be accountable for optimising fuel costs and ensuring that all vehicles operate at optimal cost efficiency.

    Minimum Requirements    

    • Matric or equivalent (N4)
    • Diploma/Degree in Road Transport Management.
    • Qualified Diesel Technician with minimum 5 years’ experience on trucks. (Mechanical, Auto Electrical, Cooling Systems, Tyre management)
    • Workshop Management with 5 years’ experience and sound knowledge of workshop procedures and processes. 
    • Experience in Financial (0 based budgets, Capex, Syspro, Recons) 
    • Computer Skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams, Outlook)
    • Knowledge of workshop health and safety principals
    • FMCG experience (Advantageous) 
    • Valid Drivers License
    • Good communication skills (Written and Spoken)
    • Sound Management skills (Planning, implementation, Execution, Staff management)

    Duties & Responsibilities    

    • Oversee transport, workshop operations, depots, assets, and employees
    • Manage budgets, Capex planning, and fleet asset registers
    • Ensure fleet availability, minimal downtime (VOR), and optimal vehicle utilisation
    • Schedule and oversee servicing, repairs, inspections, and tyre management
    • Manage fuel usage, fuel reconciliations, and cost optimisation (CPK)
    • Ensure compliance with OEM, FOSA, Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Road Traffic regulations
    • Source cost-effective parts, manage suppliers, and oversee stock control
    • Lead, train, coach, and manage staff performance in line with company standards
    • Monitor KPIs, conduct depot visits, and drive continuous improvement initiatives
    • Manage incidents, accidents, insurance claims, and preventative measures
    • Maintain fleet image, branding, cleanliness, and operational standards
    • Ensure adherence to all business unit policies and procedures
