    Travel Planner

    Angama is looking for a highly-motivated Travel Planner who: 

    • Loves selling! 
    • Motivated to achieve/exceed revenue targets 
    • Has a passion for travel and crafting journeys-of-a-lifetime 
    • Has good working knowledge of travel in East Africa 
    • Is keenly curious about new destinations and experiences 
    • Is attentive to the very last detail 
    • Can keep cool, calm and smiling under pressure 
    • Understands that in a small business guest delight is everyone’s responsibility 
    • Appreciates that this a 24/7 business 
    • Is a good listener, empathetic and patient 
    • Is able to travel as and when required
    • The successful candidate’s primary role will be to plan safaris to East Africa for sophisticated and discerning international travellers. Often these travellers value the planning process as much as the actual journey itself. They expect only the very best service. 

    Day-to-day responsibilities include: 

    • Responding timeously and courteously to enquiries from all over the world 
    • Interpreting and translating often vague requests into travel plans 
    • Gently guiding guests through the often stressful booking process 
    • Converting enquiries into confirmed itineraries 
    • Designing itineraries through East Africa’s wildlife highspots, including costing, quoting and invoicing 
    • Interacting with multiple partner properties and services providers
    • There are no formal qualification requirements, though candidates with any or all of the following will be at a distinct advantage: 
    • High standards of written English 
    • A tertiary education 
    • Knowledge of luxury East African safari lodges and logistics 
    • Experience with tour operating or reservations systems 
    • Experience elsewhere within the tourism industry
    • The successful candidate’s remuneration will be market-related. This is a full-time position based in our Johanesburg office.
