Treasury Manager at Distell

The Treasury Manager will play a critical role in assisting the Group Treasurer to set the strategic direction for the Treasury function and will also, amongst others, provide functional support for the management and efficient execution of treasury transactions, treasury reporting, treasury controls and treasury accounting activities.

Key Performance Areas would include, but are not limited to:
The primary function areas will include but not be limited to:

• Treasury operations and controls;
• Capital markets and funding;
• Cash and liquidity management;
• Risk management; and
• Management reporting.

Within These Functions Typical Work Activities May Involve

• Ensure compliance with South African exchange control regulations which will include the drafting of exchange control applications to enable foreign business expansion and providing feedback to ensure the continuation of previously approved foreign applicants.
• Assist in the execution of the dealing activities with financial institutions that is required to manage investments, funding, interest rate, commodity and foreign exchange positions.
• Responsible for capturing, monitoring and understanding all the material financial market risks of the Group as well as the development of an appropriate risk management framework to ensure effective management of these risks.
• Responsible for all treasury management reporting.
• Monitoring of Treasury risks and reporting on risk management strategies.
• Further development and maintenance of detailed Treasury policies for the Group and subsidiaries, as well as monitoring compliance of all treasury activities in relation to the policies.
• All Treasury accounting activities including full responsibility for all hedge accounting processes and providing technical treasury accounting advice to internal stakeholders.
• Develop Treasury capabilities (including assisting in implementation of Treasury management system).
• Maintain a professional relationship with financial institutions including attending meetings to communicate the Group's performance, business plans and financing objectives.
• Manage the Group’s cash flow, short- and long-term borrowings and cash in the most efficient manner to ensure that the funding needs can be met.

The successful candidate must have the following qualification, skills and experience:

• Suitable tertiary financial qualification.
• Treasury experience in a large multi-national corporation or financial institution is advantageous.
• Strong communicator and influencer, commercially-minded and able to approach and challenge colleagues and external professionals to understand and resolve issues.
• Knowledge of IFRS 9 as well as experience in documenting hedge designations and designing and conducting effectiveness testing in accordance with the applicable accounting standards.
• Experience within a treasury risk management focused role with knowledge of risk management methods, concepts, reporting and modelling techniques is advantageous.
• Experience in using a Treasury Management System is advantageous.
• Knowledge of Value -at -Risk, Back testing and Stress Testing is advantageous.
• Problem solving skills to tackle current issues and inefficiencies and create meaningful solution that creates value and/or reduce risk for the Group.
