Unit Manager - Mental Health Facility - Isipingo Hospital
As the Unit Manager of our Mental Health Facility at Isipingo Hospital, you will play a crucial role in the delivery of high-quality mental health care to our patients. You will be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of the unit, ensuring that all services are delivered efficiently and effectively.
Key Responsibilities:
Overseeing the daily operations of the Mental Health Facility, including coordinating patient care, managing staff schedules, and ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures
Providing leadership and support to the multidisciplinary team, including doctors, nurses, therapists, and support staff
Conducting regular staff meetings and performance evaluations to ensure high-quality care and identify areas for improvement
Collaborating with other departments and healthcare providers to ensure a holistic approach to patient care
Monitoring and managing the unit's budget and resources to ensure cost-effective and efficient operations
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date patient records and ensuring confidentiality and privacy at all times
Ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements, including relevant mental health legislation
Participating in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve patient care and safety
Providing support and guidance to patients and their families, and addressing any concerns or complaints in a timely and professional manner
Keeping up-to-date with current developments and best practices in the field of mental health care, and implementing new techniques and strategies as appropriate.
Qualifications and Experience:
Diploma in Psychiatric Nursing for Registration as a Psychiatric Nurse
Minimum of 5 years of experience in mental health care, with at least 2 years in a leadership or management role
Registered with the South African Nursing Council
Strong knowledge of mental health legislation and regulations
Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills
Ability to work well under pressure and manage multiple tasks simultaneously
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and electronic medical records systems.
