The Student Hub, an educational technology start-up specialising in developing innovative marketplace platforms within South Africa, are looking for a dynamic and talented UX/UI Designer to create amazing user experiences. The ideal candidate should have an eye for clean designs, possess great UI skills and be able to translate high-level requirements into interaction flows and artefacts and transform them into intuitive and functional user interfaces. This full-time position is based in Cape Town, South Africa.
Responsibilities
Collaborate with the development team to define and implement innovative solutions for the product direction, visuals and experience
Implement the latest design innovations to ensure that the product is in accordance with the cutting-edge technology
Own the process of taking in wireframes from UX and producing UI design assets for development.
Conceptualize original ideas that bring simplicity and user-friendliness to complex design roadblocks
Create wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps to effectively communicate interaction and design ideas
Present and defend designs and key milestone deliverables to peers and executive level stakeholders
Define user task flows and interaction models
Conduct user research and evaluate user feedback
Design clear, simple and functional interfaces.
Create prototypes, wireframes, and mock-ups to demonstrate the functioning and layout of the
product
Design across multiple channels and platforms e.g. Illustrator, Photoshop, The Adobe Cloud Suit
Consistently produce creative elements/layouts against a deliverables list
Contribute to brainstorms and ideation sessions
Conduct customer and competitor analysis.
Optimizes UI designs and tests for intuitiveness and user-centeredness.
Conduct usability testing to identify gaps in design and see if they can be further improved
Requirements
2-4 plus years working experience in Digital Product Development, Web Design or Application
Design Space
Demonstrable UI design skills with a strong portfolio
Solid experience in creating wireframes, storyboards, user flows, process flows and site maps
Proficiency in Photoshop, Illustrator, Adobe XD, or other visual design and wire-framing tools
Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript knowledge for key functional understanding in rapid prototyping.
Excellent visual design skills with sensitivity to user-system interaction
Ability to produce quality UI work on a consistent basis2 | Page

Ability to present your designs and sell your solutions to various stakeholders, e.g. Marketing, Sales
Ability to solve problems creatively and effectively
Up to date with the latest UI trends, techniques, and technologies
BS/MS in Human-Computer Interaction, Interaction Design, or related field
