    Warehouse Manager

    Job Description

    The Warehouse is the central hub in our supply chain, where inventory is received from suppliers and stored until its eventual distribution to clients.  The Warehouse Manager is responsible for the day-to-day management of warehouse operations and warehouse staff.  Organising the safe and efficient, receipt, storage and despatch of warehoused goods.  Plan arrangement and storage of goods within the warehouse and organize special requirements for certain goods, such as fragile products, consumables or project specific goods.

     

    POSITION OBJECTIVES

    1. Planning, administration and general management issues, which will include the day-to-day supervision of staff, and overseeing work organized by team leader(s).

    2. Communicating and liaising with buyers, staff groups and customers.

    3. Maintain statistical and financial records.

    4. Ensure that quality objectives and delivery deadlines are met.

    5. Ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation.

    6. Maintains receiving, warehousing, and distribution operations by initiating, coordinating, and enforcing operational, work instructions, and policies and procedures.

    7. Complies with local warehousing, material handling, and shipping requirements by studying existing and new legislation; enforcing adherence to requirements; advising management on needed actions.

    8. Safeguards warehouse operations and contents by establishing and monitoring security procedures and protocols.

    9. Maintains physical condition of warehouse by planning and implementing new design layouts; inspecting equipment; issuing work orders for repair and requisitions for replacement.

    10. Achieves financial objectives by preparing an annual budget; scheduling expenditures; analyzing variances; initiating corrective actions.

    11. Completes warehouse operational requirements by scheduling and assigning employees; following up on work results.

    12. Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.

    13. Managing and maintaining a fleet of vehicles as well as fleet capacity optimization, materials handling and flow optimization.

    Qualifications

    • High school or equivalent

    • Degree or Diploma in Logistics, Distribution, Transportation, Management

    • 10+ years’ experience working at a senior level in the Export / FMCG environment

    • Ability to take action against people and give warning – first to final warnings – and have experience in Disciplinary hearings is essential.

    • The ability to manage the Warehouse and Logistics is essential.

    • Strong problem-solving ability and attention to detail is essential.

    • Must have good numerical ability and an understanding of finance as well as good written and oral communication skills.

    • Knowledge of the legal requirements of operating a warehouse.

    • People management skills, including the ability to lead and motivate others, delegate work and explain ideas.

    • Planning and Organisational skills.

    • Analytical ability.

    • Initiative and Decisiveness.

    • Technical and IT skills, particularly when it comes to database management and spreadsheets.

    • Problem-solving skills and the ability to work on a tactical and strategic level.

    • The ability to work under pressure and to tight deadlines.

    • Supervision, Developing Budgets, Safety Management, Developing Standards, Managing Processes, Surveillance Skills, Inventory Control, Reporting Skills, Analyzing Information, Equipment Maintenance, sound Judgment.
