Warehousing And Logistics Manager - Maitland at Cape Herb & Spice

Role objectives:

• Ensure that the warehouse operations perform at peak efficiency, with stock integrity and customer satisfaction the primary goal.
• Plan warehouse operations by determining product handling and storage requirements, staffing and equipment requirements, gate processes, and inter-site logistics requirements.
• Manage warehouse operations across multiple sites to ensure peak efficiency, stock integrity and customer satisfaction the primary goals.
• Review and implement best practice warehouse processes and technology to meet company standards for productivity, safety, quality, and customer service.
• Manage and train the Supervisor team to solve day-to-day operational issues and reach short- and long-term performance goals.
• Plan and manage inbound and outbound logistics within the company.
• Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by establishing and enforcing company standards and procedures and complying with legal regulations.

Key Functional Areas:

Warehousing Function:

• Develop overall warehouse strategy and annual operations plan, aligned with the overall business strategy.
• Manage, lead, and develop the warehouse supervisory team.
• Manage the warehousing operations to ensure productivity is optimised, inventory integrity is maintained, compliance with system and process controls.
• Manage the companies bond store / rebate store to ensure SARS compliance.
• Monitor performance and use best practice processes and technology to drive continuous improvement / redesign of warehousing processes to ensure enhanced operation/delivery.
• Manage warehouse costs in line with budget.
• Meet regularly with warehouse Supervisors to analyse performance and develop actionable plans for loss prevention.
• Regularly report on warehouse performance metrics.
• Manage stock counts across multiple warehouse sites.
• Ensure HSE and Food Safety regulations and controls are complied with in the warehouse environment.
• Ensure warehouses meet customer service expectations.

Logistics Function:

• Manage and develop the shipping team/ department.
• Negotiate contracts with logistic and shipping suppliers.
• Monitor supplier performance and ensure contractual obligations are met.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

• Excellent leadership and communication skills
• Strong knowledge of warehouse operations and inventory management systems.
• Ability to identify and resolve problems in a timely manner.
• Detail-oriented with good organizational skills.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite and warehouse management software.

Required Prior Learning/ Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field.
• Proven experience as a Warehouse Manager or similar role.
