Weighbridge Operator at Dwarsrivier Chrome Mine

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Grade 12 / Standard 10 Certificate with Mathematics.
• Code B (08) Driver’s Licence.
• Advantageous: Certificate in Logistics.

EXPERIENCE (including but not limited to):

• 6 months to 1 year practical experience in a Weighbridge operation to an industrial environment.

DUTIES (including but not limited to):

• Ensure all weighbridge operations are in accordance with set standards and operational targets. Control and coordinate material movement on site so that all acceptable materials entering or leaving the mine are recorded and accounted for.
• Chair toolbox talks by choosing relevant topics and discussing them.
• Give instruction to front end loaders. Follow up on work allocated and specific instructions given. Report any fault on the machines.
• Complete work area inspection checklists for the weighbridge by physical observation, and report to Logistics Controller.
• Ensure weighbridge system is operational by testing the scales and verification by comparing all the 7 scales and reporting of any defects

Incoming trucks:

• Register truck driver, medical certificate, induction and contact details on MES. Inspect incoming truck trailers for cleanliness to avoid contamination, reports any defects. Ensure that trucks weigh in correctly at the Auto weighbridges. Direct the trucks to the correct stockpile. Communicate with Loader Operators regarding products to be loaded onto different trucks. Monitor trucks in the plant to prevent congestion.

Outgoing trucks:

• Verify product that was loaded to ensure correct product loaded and weigh out coming trucks in order for system to calculate the tonnage of material loaded. Check all information regarding the truck and print the weighbridge slip. Sign the weighbridge slip and hand to the driver for Security clearance.

Manual weighing and capturing:

• Weigh trucks manually when MES is offline and capture the information once system is online. Assist external companies with the verification and calibration of the weighbridges. Check for anomalies between transport destinations and make decisions to stop, and report Controller. Verify problems identified – stop process until issue is repaired e.g. trailer with holes?
• Capture new transporter details and new order numbers on the system by physical observation and processing official paperwork. Communicates with transporters and capture truck drivers details on MES system to ensure that they comply to SHEQ procedures.
• Ensure that the weighbridge, inspection steps and weighbridge. Office is clean and tidy at all times. Ensure stockpiles are kept in good condition by instructing the Heavy Vehicle Operators on where to load.
