10+ years’ experience in the renewable energy environment (Wind Projects).
Strong understanding of Wind TSIA and O & M agreement and interfaces with EPC BOP
Awareness and understanding of the relevant technical codes, regulations and standards relating to the development of renewable energy projects.
Attention to detail required
Expertise in general testing and commissioning as well as performance testing of Wind Projects
Requires an organised approach to working, task prioritisation and time management.
Commercial mindset and experience with optimizing overall business from a technical design and execution perspective
Take ownership of meeting deadlines and drive tasks to completion
Strong initiative and the ability to proactively identify required tasks.
Able to work independently and in groups
Proficient in Microsoft Word, Powerpoint
Understanding of MS Project and Primavera project schedules
Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel a bonus
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Interest in renewable energy projects
Proficient in English. Ability to speak Afrikaans will be an advantage on current projects
Willingness to travel and spend time on site
A valid Driver’s license
Key responsibilities:
Responsible for the general day-to-day technical project management of the relevant project (Wind Turbines).
Oversee the preparation of yield simulations
Manage region level relations with Turbine Suppliers and liaise with TotalEnergies group level key supplier management initiatives
Lead the selection of a Turbine supplier and model for the relevant project
Negotiate the Turbine supply agreement with the Turbine supplier, focussing on technical & commercial with coordination of negotiation by i) internal/external legal advisors and ii) technical specialists (BOP interfaces, Grid Code Compliance, Turbine Performance, SCADA, Schedule, Service/Asset Management...)
Liaise with the BOP team to manage the interfaces between the BOP contractor and the Turbine supplier
Lead the technical interface between the Turbine and various other work packages (finance, legal, technical, permitting, grid connection, etc.) during execution.
Oversee the Wind Turbine design review process during concept and detailed design (in consultation with the OE)
Ensuring technical compliance of the Turbine Supplier with the Supplier Contract.
Manage the review of any design deviations as may be requested during execution (assess viability, cost and time impact, etc)
Assist the Project Director in interfacing with owner’s engineer (OE), sponsors legal advisors and lenders legal and technical advisors (LLA & LTA), contractors, Eskom/Grid Operator, Lenders, etc. during execution .
Assist the Project Director in overseeing the construction process in collaboration with the site team
Assist in meeting tight deadlines and keeping within budget.
Assist the Project Director in preparation of management presentations and the generation of periodic reports with the progress status of the project.
Oversee the exaction of the met mast site calibration and Power Performance Measurements
Such other duties that may be required from time to time within the general scope of the position.
