    Economic Development Officer - Cape Town

    Candidate Profile

    • Previous experience in Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers Programme (REIPPPP) Project Bidding, Award to Financial Close, Construction and Operations
    • 7 years’ experience in Economic Development as per REIPPPP
    • Good knowledge of Broad-based Black Economic Empowerment (BBBEE)
    • National Diploma in Project Management/Social Sciences/Development studies/any equivalent NQF level
    • Fluent in English and ability to speak/read/write one additional language
    • Attention to detail
    • Excellent communication and presentation skills with small and large groups
    • Able to work independently

    The main purpose of this position is to manage the Projects ED obligations and ensure ED compliance during all phases of the project:

    1. Design and Implement Economic Development strategies that will be applied at the various stages of a project cycle (i.e. during the development, construction and operations.)
    2. Compilation and timeous submission of all Project ED related reports (ED Plan, Monthly & Quarterly Reports, Board Reports etc.) to Management, IPPO, lenders and other stakeholders
    3. Manage communication with IPP Office and other stakeholders on all Economic Development topics, while maintaining a positive relationship
    4. Continually improve, review, evaluate and monitor the Projects Economic Development obligations
    5. Provide input for Economic Development budgets and assist in obtaining approval
    6. Create Economic Development Management and Community Management Plans
    7. Creating and implementing Economic Development templates, tools and processes to ensure Economic Development compliance
    8. Continually monitor the Projects Economic Development performance by evaluating the project activities `actual vs. forecast`
    9. Ensure that the Projects Economic Development Performance does not result in termination
    10. Continually monitor Economic Development Risks and propose mitigation plans to the Management team

    Project Director - Cape Town

    Candidate Profile

    Education

    • Graduate Degree in Engineering

    Experience, knowledge & skills

    • Minimum 10 years of experience within the solar PV and HV works and/or battery storage industry, working for an EPC Contractor, Technical Advisor, Owner Engineer, or well-known IPP/Project Developer
    • Robust technical background within the renewable industry, in terms of electrical or mechanical or civil engineering
    • Business background in Renewables
    • Specific experiences in both pre-construction and execution stages
    • Experience working in a multi-cultural / multi-site environment, and in a wide transverse / cross-functional mode
    • Fluent in English (French as a plus)

    Assessing appropriately the Business/Project needs

    • During project execution, he/she is responsible and accountable for the overall coordination of construction of the project, with the main aim of completing the work on time, within budget, as per project requirements, and without any major HSE incidents. He/she will pay specific attention to:
    • Overall management of the EPC contractors. Interact with the Contracts Manager to ensure any potential contractual issues are pro-actively addressed.
    • Guide the Employers’ Construction manager in his/her work on site
    • Placing a constant and strong emphasis on HSE
    • Being fully informed about the site work by, amongst others, regular site visits
    • Identify potential risks and opportunities throughout the execution period
    • Acting as a key point of contact with stakeholders, including the ESKOM, the local communities
    • Liaise with the ED Manager to ensure that the overall ED targets are achieved
    • Ensure that the O&M Contractor is ready and in place to take over at COD

    HSE Site Officer

    Candidate Profile

     Successful candidate must have the following requirement:

    • Previous experience in Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers Programme (REIPPPP) Project Bidding, Award to Financial Close, Construction and Operations.
    • SAMTRAC/ NEBOSH formal training in HSE field.
    • Registered with the SACPCM as CHSO
    • 4 to 7 years of experience in Managing health, safety and environment for projects
    • Experience of PV and BESS projects preferred
    • Experience in implementation, maintaining and auditing of the OSHA45001 and ISO14001 Management System
    • Familiarity of Industry Standards and relevant industry HSE regulations and requirements.
    • Familiarity with behavioural based safety systems, risk analysis / job safe analysis methods, emergency response and crisis management procedures.
    • Excellent skills in problem solving, team building, ingenuity and initiative are required to coordinate problem resolution and to execute schedule requirements within a team environment.

    Activities

    The main purpose of this position is to be responsible for maintaining, developing, leading and supporting a strong environmental, health and safety culture within the project.

    1. Ensure the personnel onsite have attended the relevant HSE inductions and trainings;
    2. Ensure the HSE procedures for the specific tasks are kept updated;
    3. Perform routine and random HSE inspections on a daily basis in order to monitor HSE procedures implementation on site and ensure the follow up of corrective actions;
    4. Stop & report immediately to his superior any anomaly, violation & unsafe practice;
    5. Promote a proactive and positive intervention approach to PROJECT team;
    6. Spread HSE rules / standards / procedures / communication on site;
    7. Attend and participate in daily meetings and Tool Box & Pre-Job Talks;

    9. Advise on safe operative techniques and methodologies for the planning, safety control (i.e. JSA);

    Wind Turbine Technical Contracts Manager

    Key responsibilities:

    • Responsible for the general day-to-day technical project management of the relevant project (Wind Turbines).
    • Oversee the preparation of yield simulations
    • Manage region level relations with Turbine Suppliers and liaise with TotalEnergies group level key supplier management initiatives
    • Lead the selection of a Turbine supplier and model for the relevant project
    • Negotiate the Turbine supply agreement with the Turbine supplier, focussing on technical & commercial with coordination of negotiation by i) internal/external legal advisors and ii) technical specialists (BOP interfaces, Grid Code Compliance, Turbine Performance, SCADA, Schedule, Service/Asset Management...)
    • Liaise with the BOP team to manage the interfaces between the BOP contractor and the Turbine supplier
    • Lead the technical interface between the Turbine and various other work packages (finance, legal, technical, permitting, grid connection, etc.) during execution.
    • Oversee the Wind Turbine design review process during concept and detailed design (in consultation with the OE)
    • Ensuring technical compliance of the Turbine Supplier with the Supplier Contract.
    • Manage the review of any design deviations as may be requested during execution (assess viability, cost and time impact, etc)
