Winder Technician (REF: IVP-ENG-2503) at Ivanhoe Mines

Suitable candidates must possess the following minimum qualifications and skills:

• Grade 12
• N3 Certificate in Engineering Studies.
• Trade Test Certificate Section 13 or 26D.
• National Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering or Instrumentation is advantageous

Suitable candidates must have the following work experience:

• 1-3 years as underground Winder Technician.
• Light Current
• Experience in an electrical or instrumentation maintenance environment, including HT, AC and DC experience. 
• The ability to interpret blueprints for mechanical systems.
• Incident reporting.
• Knowledge of Siemens Drives (Cyclo Converter) equipment, Winder Machinery, Crushing & Conveying equipment and Refrigeration plants and will be an advantage. 
• Fault finding skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Time management and planning skills.

The successful candidate will be responsible for, but not be limited to:

• Responsible for winder controls of electrical and instrumentation systems.
• Responsible for electrical systems of surface ventilation fans.
• Responsible for electrical systems of standby generator plant.
• Responsible for electrical systems of surface substations.
• Updating of all electrical documentation (drawings, equipment database and datasheets).
• Conduct and participate in Risk assessments.
• Switching and preventative maintenance tasks on MV equipment in accordance with policies and procedures.
• Incident Reporting.
• Ensure working area is compliant of all OHSA standards.
