Reporting to the Snr Silviculture Forester the incumbent in this position will assist with the management of forestry plantations in the respective area.
Manage contractors (mainly silviculture but also roads and security)
Conduct quantity, quality and safety audits
Compliance to Safety & Occupational Health Act & FSC requirements
Improve productivity through innovation and optimize cost efficiencies in all operations
Production planning and adherence to APO & Budget targets
Ensure data integrity of the compartment information database
Establish and maintain effective communication channels with Local Authorities
Fire Protection & Plantation Security Management
Your profile
BSc Degree / BTech or National Diploma in Forestry
Specialized knowledge related to forestry, harvesting and logistics
Minimum of 3 years Silviculture experience dealing directly with the contractor running his/her own WPU
Minimum 3 years firefighting experience and managing firefighting operations
In depth knowledge of Silviculture, experience in the management of contractors and sound knowledge of FSC principles
Good communication, interpersonal, organisational and negotiation skills
Ability to work under pressure
Computer literate with Data Management & GIS Skills
