What is our objective? Sharenet's objective is to serve as a conduit between customers and suppliers of financial products. In facilitating this relationship, Sharenet's systems act as a sophisticated trading network that links specific financial products with specific customers or groups of customers assisting them in every aspect of the management of their investments as well as enabling them to effect financial transactions online. Sharenet's technology services the needs of its own community of 135'000 users per month who visit the site at www.sharenet.co.za. The same technology and expertise drives the online financial trading of a number of other communities including portals and corporate sites. What is the focus of Sharenet? Sharenet is a technology focussed company, yet we believe in customer orientated development above all else. This approach is made possible through the intimate relationships we manage with our customers on our own site. What will our future focus be? We will continue to use our advanced data management systems to provide faster, more powerful and yet even easier to use solutions for the private investor. What is the background of Sharenet? Sharenet was founded in 1988 as Network Information Services cc, by Anthony Walker, as a registered vendor of JSE share prices to the public on a subscription basis. Sharenet initially used the Beltel system introduced by Telkom as a platform for conveying real time share prices, but in response to the potential it saw in the Internet, was quick to modify its systems, and by 1995 had moved its access online, becoming the first vendor of JSE prices via the Internet. Since then Sharenet has constantly improved its service and as a result has retained its position as the leading provider of financial information to the consumer market. It is on this platform, that Sharenet has developed its transactional capabilities and significant market share. Who owns Sharenet?
