In 2012, WaterAid made a groundbreaking decision to establish a regional office in Pretoria, South Africa. This office is a base for building strong partnerships with the South African Government and other influential stakeholders.
Our team supports governments in the Southern Africa region to brin... read moreg more water and sanitation facilities to the area and work towards achieving the Millennium Development Goal targets in 2015.
The four programmes in our Southern Africa region are Madagascar, Malawi, Zambia and Mozambique. We are also establishing new programmes of work in Swaziland and Lesotho. In Lesotho, we have already started to deliver some services through our partner the Nazarene Compassionate Ministry.
Most of the regional team are based in Rietfontein, Pretoria. The office is hosted by the Water Research Commission which focuses on researching low cost technologies for water, sanitation and hygiene in South Africa
