    Architectural and Structural Designer

    Key Responsibilities

    • Preparation of 3D models, 2D drawings, contract drawings, file management, record keeping and limited statistical work, based on design direction provided by the Senior Architectural Designer
    • Maintaining Architectural CAD standards using 2D and 3D CAD software based on project requirements
    • Prepare and develop project specific and typical design details with limited direction
    • Assist the Senior Architectural Designer with the delivery of project requirements as they relate to scope, CAD drawing and drawing package submission deliverables, detail development
    • Assist and join the Senior Architectural Designer in attending project meetings as required
    • Independently coordinate with other technologists on the project team to develop the CAD drawings and layout design on assigned projects
    • CAD file checking for project CAD standards compliance prior to release
    • Support site Architectural / Engineering team to provide technical solutions and timely responses to technical queries as required upon project demands
    • Site visits to verify existing conditions and scope relating to ongoing and future project work
    • Construction support services upon project demands and scope.

    Qualifications and Experience

    Essential

    • A recognized degree/diploma in Architecture or Architectural Technology from an accredited University or College
    • Minimum: registered with SACAP as a candidate draughtsperson or professional
    • Minimum 6-8 years of experience as an architectural and structural draughtsperson. Portfolio should be available prior to interview with references to verify work done
    • Experience working on projects in a Industrial / mining environment
    • Proficient in the use of 2D and 3D software packages
    • Excellent planning, organizational and time management skills
    • Working knowledge of industry or regulatory standards, codes and regulations pertinent to the design and systems specific to the project
    • Understanding and knowledge of other discipline requirements
    • Ability to develop design details and drawing packages utilizing 2D and 3D software, functioning and completing with limited supervision
    • Ability to effectively work and discuss with other team members in order to complete assigned tasks and deliverables with limited supervision
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Preferred

    • Experience in Microstation (V8 XM, V8i), AutoCAD (2010-2014), Bentley AECOsim, Revit, and Trimble SketchUp 2013-2016
    • Experience in MS Office, including Word, Excel, Powerpoint
    • Experience in Adobe CS6, including Photoshop, Illustrator, In-Design, with Bluebeam experience an asset
    • Project work experience on varying project types, including Industrial, Commercial, Transportation
    • Experience in development and mentoring of Junior Technologists.

    SMPP Supervisor

    SMPP Supervisor - 12-month Fixed Term Contract

    • The SMPP Supervisor is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the construction contractors and maintaining the project performance goals within his geographic area of responsibility. Supervisors coordinate work efforts and ensure activities are sequenced in accordance with the project schedule.
    • A supervisor must be a competent person in the construction trade so that they may accurately evaluate the methods and performance in all respects of the particular scope elements of the project for which he is accountable. Reports to the construction manager

    As the successful candidate, you will:

    • Responsible for construction supervision and administration including supervision of contractors and their subcontractors for assigned portions of the project
    • Monitors overall job site health, safety and environment performance and verifies that contractors are protecting their workers at the job site
    • Ensure that the works performed by the contractors under his responsibility is executed to the prescribed quality standard
    • Assists in the coordination of the design deliverables to support continuous and efficient construction
    • Communicates the identification, management and resolution of deficiencies and non-conformance to the Construction Manager
    • Assists with site administration and record keeping procedures in accordance with the Construction Execution Plan
    • Assists with construction estimating, scheduling, cost control and reporting for all work being performed by the contractor in his assigned area of the project.
    • Job site point of contact for all contractors in his assigned area of the project

    You bring to the role:

    • Technical degree or equivalent years of supervisory experience required for a leadership position
    • Minimum five to ten years’ onsite experience on major projects
    • Strong leadership skills, the ability to motivate and lead discipline-focused site teams to successfully execute the assigned scope of work
    • Strong written and oral communication skills
    • Excellent negotiation and interpersonal skills
    • Broad knowledge of the EPCM model of project delivery including the activities, interfaces and interdependencies of all project disciplines (engineering, procurement, construction management, and other project related disciplines)
    • Comprehensive knowledge and ability to practically interpret and apply good construction practice and appropriate industry standards.
    • Experience of working on construction sites in other African countries will be advantageous

    Senior Technologist - Site - Civil Supervisor

    Senior Technologist - Site Civil Supervisor – 12-month Fixed-Term Contract

    Summary:

    • The Construction Discipline Supervisor is responsible for supervising and directing construction activities for an assigned discipline within a specific work area by overseeing and coordinating the construction contractors and maintaining the project performance goals.
    • The discipline supervisor will take all necessary measures to ensure that the works performed by the contractors under his responsibility are undertaken safely, executed to the prescribed quality standard, and in compliance with design specifications, schedule, and cost requirements.
    • A supervisor must be a competent person in the construction trade so that they may accurately evaluate the methods and performance in all respects of the particular scope elements of the project for which he is accountable.
