    Regional Lead & Senior Project Manager - (Cape Town)

    Overview:

    • Manage and direct the development and implementation of company’s goals, objectives and priorities for each assigned service area Project management services associated with multidisciplinary and other projects;
    • Guidance to clients on project delivery matters and process;
    • Providing technical project planning, management and oversight on key initiatives and implementation of projects; and
    • Complete projects on time, within scope and budget while applying all aspects of the Quality Management Systems (QMS) that enables the business to retain its ISO 9001 accreditation.

    This position reports to the Regional Director until such time that a revised team structure is approved by the business.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • Project/ Construction Management Qualification
    • +10 years construction project management experience/ 10 years’ experience in any built environment discipline at senior level
    • Extensive experience in management of project teams on multidisciplinary projects
    • ECSA registered
    • Registered as a PrCPM with SACPCMP or eligible and in the process of applying for consideration.
    • Another qualification in the built environment (e.g. civil engineering. Architectural or quantity surveying) is an advantage
    • Good Knowledge of quality management systems.

    Responsibilities (not exhaustive)

    Project Management

    • Lead and manage multidisciplinary teams on building and other infrastructure projects (e.g., retail, industrial, commercial, healthcare, human settlements, engineering services, etc.).
    • Manage and control all aspects of projects from initiation to project close out.
    • Oversee project production efforts to ensure that projects are completed satisfactorily, on time and within budget.
    • Development of client brief and project scope of works.
    • Project progress review – planed versus actual - weekly or as required.
    • Implement remedial action plans to recover project time delays.
    • Review extension of time claims or delays and make recommendations to the client.
    • Regular site visits to determine progress of construction, quality, identify and assess risks and coordination issues etc.
    • Provide or coordinate value engineering activities to be within budget.
    • Manage projects costs in conjunction with QS to provide accurate reporting to client.
    • Preparation of project plans, conducting project health checks and overseeing the implementation of recovery plans where necessary
    • Assisting the Business Development team and the relevant Executive in identifying opportunities for tendering, preparation of requests for proposals and full tender proposals, that includes content such as pricing, methodologies, programmes, etc.
    • Compile the relevant reports for the various stages of a project as required by the client or the business.
    • Source professional partners with specialist skills for Consortiums or Joint Ventures and assess and recommend specialists for tendering purposes.

     Strategic Management

    • Manage and direct the development and implementation of Company’s goals, objectives, policies and priorities for each assigned area
    • Develop strategies that support the Company’s short and long-term revenue goals
    • Assess and monitor workload, administrative and support systems and internal reporting relationships, identify opportunities for improvement
    • Explain, justify and defend company programs, policies and activities, negotiate and resolve sensitive and controversial issues
    • Actively participate as a senior member of the Company and management teams
    • Provide leadership and direction to the project teams delivery teams and attend key client meetings
    • Maintain and understanding of key industry trends and competitors and report back to the Leadership team
    • Oversee and participate in the development, administration of the Region and budget and manage it effectively
    • Participate in the formulation of the Company strategy and accountable for formulation of the Regional strategic plan and ensure implementation thereof.
    • Ensure implementation of the Company’s procurement strategy towards maintaining and improving the Company’s BBBEE rating
    • Servicing of other regions and departments in terms of specialist skills as and when required
    • Endorse and review the suitability, adequacy and effectiveness of the quality management system
    • Ensure legal compliance, risk assessment and fulfilment of contractual obligations in conjunction with the legal department
    • Ensure effective implementation of the company’s performance management system within the department
    • Perform ad-hoc duties as required

     Revenue Management

    • Develop revenue strategies that support the Company’s short and long-term revenue goals
    • Identify and develop new approaches to revenue generation with new business models
    • Analyse project profitability, revenue, margins bill rates and utilization
    • Accountable for revenue recognition and timely and accurate invoice

     Staff Management

    • Establish, within Company’s policy, appropriate service and staffing levels, monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of service delivery methods procedures, allocate resources accordingly
    • Plan, direct and coordinate, through subordinate level staff, the Company’s work plan, assign projects and programme areas of responsibility, review and evaluate work methods and procedures, meet with key staff to identify and resolve problems
    • Direct staff in providing excellent customer service to all external and internal customers, organization and general corporate news
    • Keep Regional staff (include the client) well informed of changes within the organization and general corporate news
    • Ensure, delegating as appropriate, that each service location is adequately managed, staffed and resourced
    • Ensure effective implementation of a clear and documented career development plan of all regional staff and
    • Skills development in self and others and transfer of specialist knowledge and skills to others

     Business Development

    • Identify and pursue potential new or expanded business opportunities in the Region and elsewhere where the business has strategic objectives
    • Stakeholder engagement
    • Monitor various service contracts for compliance with established performance levels, follow up and ensure corrective action is taken as necessary
    • Integrate data from various sources and identify potential problems, generate solutions to ensure company success
    • Attend and participate in professional group meetings, stay abreast of new trends and innovations in field of environmental services
    • Work closely with cross-functional leadership and about business development and content to ensure formation of a robust and sustainable Interact with critical decision makers to convince and influence business decisions
    • Lead strategic bids and oversee team members leading other bid, review methodologies, assist with assembling a team or consortium, and compiling pricing strategies.

    Senior Structural Engineer - Cape Town

    Overview

    • The Structural Engineering Lead is responsible for providing technical project planning, management and oversight for key initiatives and implementation of projects, ensuring that these projects are completed on time, within scope and budget while applying all aspects of the Quality Management System (QMS) that enables the business to retain its ISO 9001 accreditation. 
    • The Team Lead manages all phases of service delivery in the structural engineering team from stage 1 to 6 and will be responsible for, but not limited to, all aspects of project management including all project resources (including partners / subcontractors / specialist services), project planning, scheduling, risk management, scope management, internal and external communication, and status reporting.

    Qualifications and Experience

    • BSc / B.Eng / B-Tech Degree
    • 10-15 years’ post first qualification experience in the built environment and least 5 of these years in a client facing Project Management or Technical Lead role
    • Registered with ECSA as a Professional Engineer/ Technologist
    • Registration with SACPCMP as Pr CPM will be an advantage
    • Proven track record as Project/Technical Lead on multi-disciplinary building & Infrastructure projects
    • Project Management experience to lead and manage teams to deliver medium to high rise office buildings, residential, educational, healthcare, commercial and industrial buildings, and water retaining structures
    • Experience in contract administration & management of multi-disciplinary building & Infrastructure projects
    • A good understanding of the Consulting and Construction Contracts used in the built environment.

    Responsibilities
