    HS Classification Specialist

    Job Description

    • NOV South Africa is seeking an experienced HS Classification Specialist. This position will be primarily responsible for assigning Harmonized System (“HS” codes) to oilfield equipment and facility related items that NOV purchases globally. Other tasks may be assigned as required to support business operations. The initial focus of this position will be for the review and updating of HS codes related to the various global Carbon Emissions Project and then progressing into the Compliance Global Jira Ticket System.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Maintain a consistent classification regime to ensure standards meet the global Customs requirements for accuracy.   
    • Competent in reading and interpreting drawings/schematics/mill certificates and analysing the US and Global Tariff Schedules to proficiently ascertain the correct HS codes for materials as related to the Carbon Emissions Project.
    • Ensure that all necessary documentation is maintained and filed as related to any Binding Tariff Information issued by Customs authorities, so as to provide proper justifications of selected classifications.
    • Comfortable interacting with Forwarders/Brokers/Engineering/Purchasing, if required, to provide classification instructions and any requested assistance from the NOV Brokerage Teams to ensure product moves in a timely manner.
    • In coordination with NOV Compliance management, proactively participate and conduct possible self-audits of our classifications to ensure and accuracy and compliance with government regulatory programs.
    • Monitor trade legislation and regulations impacting the global Tariff Schedules and provide assistance to changes within these developments.

    REQUIRED EXPERIENCE:

    • 5 + years HS coding experience 
    • Knowledgeable about relevant regulations related to HS classification
    • Experience with import/export procedures, international freight
    • Knowledge of Free Trade Agreements and International experience are a plus
    • Excellent interpersonal skills 
    • Extremely organized and able to handle multiple tasks at the same time 
    • Work well under pressure and daily deadlines 
    • Highly motivated
    • PC skills required (including MS Office) 
    • Must be fluent in English

    Temp General Accountant

    Job Description

    • Are you a detail-driven accounting professional with a passion for accuracy and financial integrity? NOV Africa is looking for a Temporary GL Accountant to join our Centralized Accounting Team and support our finance operations across the NOV Group of companies. Reporting to the Africa Support Controller, you will play a key role in ensuring accurate financial reporting and compliance with accounting standards.

    What You’ll Do:

    • Perform monthly reconciliations for accounts receivable, accounts payable, fixed assets, leases, and inventory
    • Prepare and ensure the timely submission of financial reports (monthly, quarterly, and annual)
    • Maintain balance sheet reconciliations and resolve discrepancies
    • Apply IFRS and US GAAP principles while ensuring compliance with internal controls and statutory requirements
    • Assist with tax and financial audits
    • Provide financial analysis and collaborate with operational teams

    What We’re Looking For:

    • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Accounting or Finance
    • Experience: 3-5 years of general accounting experience in a commercial environment
    • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of IFRS, familiarity with US GAAP & SOX reporting is a plus
    • Detail-Oriented: Organized with excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
    • Team Player: Able to work independently, meet deadlines, and collaborate with cross-functional teams

    Duties and Responsibilities:

    • Expert in object-oriented design, design patterns, and software architecture.
    • Design/Develop/maintain web applications, APIs, content management systems, and integration with cloud technologies.
    • Design/Build and maintain data pipelines and data science infrastructure.
    • Configure/maintain AWS cloud technologies 
    • Participate in technical planning & requirements, gathering phases including Design, Code, Test, troubleshooting, and document engineering software applications.
    • Review and redesign existing applications as needed.
    • Drive and establish best practices for processes and tools.
    • Collaborate with your team and teams across NOV to deliver solutions and evolve products.
    • Experience in mentoring junior staff on the team by providing guidance, direction, and feedback to meet agreed upon objectives.

    Qualifications and Experience:

    • Must have at least 5+ years of industry experience with programming languages .NET, C# (preferred)
    • Must have at least 3 years of industry experience in  Front-end development skills related to CSS/CSS3, JavaScript, HTML5
    • Experience in working with Angular is a plus.
    • Proficient experience using database languages Ex. SQL, MongoDB, OSI PI, DocumentDB, PostgreSQL.
    • Good understanding of containers, build systems, and infrastructure automation.
    • Experience designing, building, and maintaining RESTful APIs
    • Experience with Git, and CI/CD tools.
    • Experience with AWS services is a plus.
    • Ability to handle a fast-paced work environment, deadlines, and new challenges.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • High-level ownership, self-sufficient, hands-on leader to drive quality and maintain application stability.
    • Eager to embrace current and emerging web technologies.

    Education & Experience:

    Application Support Analyst

    Job Description

    • NOV Africa is seeking a self-motivated Data and configuration Analyst to join the Rig Technologies team in Gqeberha. The successful candidate will work directly with the technical team in the Connected Products group and will serve as the technical reference to ensure the performance and availability of our online solutions in NOV development, test, and production environments.

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Performs installation, configuration, and upgrades of the Connected Product solutions.
    • Monitors solution performance/availability; suggest alternative approaches when applicable.
    • Works with the Connected Product Development Team to troubleshoot issues reported by the customers/stakeholders; record the issues in the ticketing system.
    • Documents the implemented solution, bug fixes, etc. and create troubleshooting documents
    • Perform other work-related tasks as assigned.
    • Comply with all NOV Company and HSE policies and procedures.

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Undergraduate or Graduate Education: Degree in computer science, information science, information systems management, mathematics, operations research, statistics, or technology management.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Experience must be IT related (Essential)
    • Software Development skills/experiences a plus
    • Windows/Linux server experience a plus

    SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & SPECIAL TRAINING:
