    Chargehand Fitter

    JOB PURPOSE:

    • Provide high level fitting work which will include, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
    • To learn the functioning of the machines for effective fault finding and repairs.

    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Daily equipment safety checks, performance checks and reporting
    • Starting up of processing equipment to be ready for processing
    • Setting up and adjusting of equipment for the required products scheduled for production.
    • Servicing of equipment as per schedule (CMMS)
    • Detailed and accurate feedback of work done, cause of failure, time taken, and spares used.
    • Fault-finding on factory equipment- collaborate with electrician if required.
    • Overhauling of machines based on manufacturers specifications.
    • Modification of equipment to improve performance or to better suit the operating environment.
    • Breakdown and functional failure repairs – including failure analysis.
    • Working as part of project team on multi-disciplinary projects as and when required

    REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:

    • Qualified fitter with at least N3.
    • Higher than N3 pneumatics/hydraulics training certification will be advantages.
    • Extensive experience working in an FMCG business-preferable the food industry with extensive automation systems.
    • Good communication skills and teamwork is essential.
    • Must have experience in root cause failure analysis and structured problem solving.
    • Further studies towards improving skills and knowledge in the ever-changing environment will be advantages.

    Diesel Fitter

    PURPOSE:

    • To be responsible for inspecting, dismantling and reassembling engines and other components, diagnosing and repairing faults and performing routine maintenance on engines and equipment.

    OUTPUTS AND MEASUREMENTS:

    • Duties include, but are not limited to:
    • Ensure that all diesel fitting functions are carried out by maintaining vessels in accordance with manufacturers specifications.
    • Ensure that shop machinery operates in accordance with safety regulations.
    • Compile spare parts list for scheduled machinery overhauls.
    • Conduct efficient problem-solving exercises to address malfunctions of the engine and identify and report the cause of the malfunctions.
    • Maintain accurate records of all tasks and work.
    • Ensure compliance of all safety and hygiene standards and procedures.
    • Provide corrective action of deficiencies during maintenance, installation, and production projects.
    • Ensure hygiene and housekeeping procedures are adhered to.
    • Promote and support a holistic working environment within the department.
    • Mentor apprentices under supervision

    REQUIREMENTS AND COMPETENCIES:

    • Qualified Diesel Fitter with a trade certificate.
    • Minimum of 7-10 years of experience within a diesel fitter capacity preferably within the marine industry.
    • Must have an analytical mindset and the ability to understand technical documentation such as design blueprints and instructional manuals.
    • Medically fit to work onboard fishing vessels.
    • Proactive and flexible, willing to work long hours.
    • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing.
    • Ability to maintain good interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to supervise systems and processes.
    • Sound knowledge of combustion, compression and other industry related testing procedures, hydraulic and pneumatic systems and the repair and maintenance thereof.
    • Strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to function independently in decision making and analyse self-performance constructively.

    General Worker

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Maintaining and compliance of standards within the department such as HACCP, OHASA. etc.
    • Packing and preparing fish product orders.
    • Assisting in the sales floor area with loading/unloading of fresh fish bins.
    • Daily counts of fresh fish bins.
    • Washing bins daily

    POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12 advantageous
    • Must be punctual and reliable
    • Self-starter and positive attitude
    • Good time management with tasks
    • Hands-on approach, presentable
    • Understanding and adhering to the company's Health and Safety standards
    • Willingness to work overtime and weekends when needed
    • Good health and energetic
    • Work will in a team and follow instructions
    • Sober habits and clear criminal record
