    Specialist: ERP Technical

    Position Purpose

    • To provide technical support and leadership on SAP Basis system including establishment of standards and requirements, evaluating and directing enhancements, and implementing solutions for performance monitoring.
    • To ensure that the SAP transactional system is fully supported, upgrades are undertaken, bug fixes are implemented, and the system remains online and available to the end-user community.
    • To lead a team of technical support specialist in the maintenance and support of the Basis environment.
    • To have deep knowledge and understanding of Infrastructure environments applicable to the SAP environment including where applicable cloud infrastructure.
    • To provide skills and knowledge transfer to junior employees.

    Position Outputs

    Service Desk Analyst

    Position Purpose

    • To provide first line ICT technical troubleshooting, support and resolution requests. Analyse, diagnose and resolve client faults timeously with which may vary from straight forward to more complex service requests/faults. Ensure client satisfaction to the

    Position Outputs

    IT Support Analyst

    Position Purpose

    • To provide a single point of contact for end-users to receive technical support of information technology equipment at the Transnet sites that he/she will be supporting, by installing, diagnosing, repairing, and upgrading all computer hardware and software as well as disaster recovery, business continuity planning, business phone solutions and security solutions to ensure optimal workstation performance. To provide continual and reliable desktop support for all Transnet users in order that all the required business activities can continue functioning. This includes all facets of the Desktop environment in order to achieve no downtime and zero call backs. Moreover, the functions of this position have become multi-functional Desktop Engineers supporting hardware, software, servers, printers, multimedia, networking and mobility and video conferencing.

    Position Outputs

    • Ensure uptime of network, internet, mail connectivity, end user logon access and reliability of equipment used.
    • Using hardware and software tools effectively to ensure efficient business processes.
    • Supporting end users' access to servers and basic troubleshooting.
    • Backup management of user data on laptops, IPADs, cellular devices and small systems. Management of backup tapes and off-site storage areas (if applicable)

    Trainee Train Assistant - Belfast

    Position Purpose

    • Assist the Train Driver in the safe and efficient driving/handling of all different types of trains/locomotives consists (airbrake, vacuum, high speed, heavy haul and passengers) to ensure that the customers freight/cargo reaches its destination in good condition, on time, in order to enable the organisation to satisfy the customer needs.

    Position Outputs

    • Sign on duty at designated workplace and be allocated duties to be performed for the duration of the shift.

    Qualifications and Experience

    EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

    • Grade 12 with pure Mathematics and/ or Physical Science OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
    • Be prepared to undergo periodic medical surveillance and safety behavioral risk assessments during the selection process and every 12 months.
    • Physical hearing, vision, mental, fitness (to be verified through medical tests and related safety behavioral risk assessments)
    • The operator shall not allow employees younger than 21 years of age to undertake Train driver or train control duties (SANS 3000, par 6.2.6.8)
    • The following minimum Trainee pre –requisite:
    • The candidate should be a minimum of 1.6m tall.
    • Psychomotor ability (to be assessed through Vienna Testing System (VTS standards)
    • Ability to carry heavy objects.

    FUNCTIONAL TRAINING:

    • Be prepared to successfully undergo Train Assistant duties (theoretical and practical) so as to be certified to work independently as a Train Assistant
    • Be willing, prepared and capable to obtain a Train Assistant duties certificate (theoretical and practical) successfully and be certified to work independently as Train Assistant.
