    Assistant Accountant

    Job Description:
    The role of the Assistant Accountant is to ensure the best service to De Beers from Global Shared Services (GSS) by monitoring controls and applying strict governance. The incumbent will be required to execute the necessary financial activities and ensure the application of sound accounting practices.

    Key Tasks include:

    • To ensure GSS adherence to De Beers minimum controls and action controls that lie within De Beers responsibility for the General Ledger, Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, Cash Management, Travel & Expense and Intercompany functions.
    • Being the first point of contact for escalations between GSS and the customers.
    • VAT and other legislative returns.
    • Cashflow forecast consolidations.
    • Month End and Year End process coordination.
    • Assistance to Sites with adhoc requests e.g. Inputs for Statistical key figures, escalation tables and planning uploads.
    • USD & GBP revaluations (Accounts Receivable).
    • Exception reporting

    Qualifications:

    • National Diploma in Accounting
    • Bachelor of Commerce in Accounting or equivalent would be preferred

    Role-Specific Knowledge and Experience:

    • Thorough understanding of the General Ledger Accounting, Accounts Receivable and Cash Management processes.
    • Experience with entities providing a variety of financial services.
    • Financial and management accounting experience.
    • Strong knowledge of relevant statutory and legislative requirements.
    • Systems knowledge: SAP, Concur, SARS E-Filing and Banking

    Marine Production Supervisor

    Job Description:
    You will be responsible for ensuring that production targets are achieved in a cost-efficient and safe manner, still guaranteeing that our systems run proficiently.

    Your role will include:

    • Managing the production treatment process.
    • Leading the team to ensure all goals and production targets are met.
    • Reporting updated statistics for the production month.
    • Guaranteeing that the Geological Observers report on mine panels to the client, is accurate.
    • Establishing vessel objectives for production and maintenance.
    • Ensuring that issues related to the mineral processing plant are identified and rectified timeously.
    • Keeping abreast of all the latest and innovative technologies available.

    Qualifications:
    Formal qualifications
    :

    • Grade 12 is required
    • National Diploma in Metallurgy (Extraction) or Geology will be advantageous

    Additional requirements:

    • Valid Code 08/EB Driver’s License
    • Travel to Namibia as and when required

    Role-specific knowledge:

    • 3 years minimum supervisory or management experience in a Geology / Metallurgy related discipline

    Senior Engineer - Carbon Neutral

    Job Description:
    Your role will also be responsible for:

    • Leading the development and implementation of the Carbon Neutrality Roadmap.
    • Providing expert advice to the Senior Engineering Manager and Operations team.
    • Liaising and engage with group and industry carbon management thought leaders.
    • Ensuring the seamless integration of all work within the operation.
    • Implementing and report critical controls (and their failures) to Operational management.
    • Capitalizing on the low carbon & carbon neutral business opportunities.

    Qualifications:
    Education required:

    • Grade 12/Std10/N3 or relevant NQF Level 4 qualification
    • Bachelor’s degree/B Tech in Mechanical/Electrical Engineering
    • Government Certificate of Competence (GCC -Mines and Work (Electrical or Mechanical)) is essential
    • Professional registration with the Engineering Council of South Africa (ECSA) will be advantageous

    Experience & knowledge required:

    • Minimum of 10 years relevant experience is required of which 5 years should be at the management level
    • Project Management qualification/experience will be advantageous

    • Valid EB/Code 08 Drivers License.

    Business Improvement Specialist

    Job Description:
    You will also
    :

    • Be responsible for the development of the statistical models such as the Business Structure and Performance Model (BSP),Value Driver Trees (VDTs) as well as implementing various data tools across the site for various improvement initiatives
    • The role supports AAOM (Anglo American Operating Model) implementation in the existing open pit mining operation (including support departments), as well as the underground mine that is currently being designed and developed.
    • Process mapping and optimisation, analysis of data and information, identification of opportunities, recommending alternative approaches, employing technical solutions to overcoming operational constraints and unlocking value through application of AAOM principles
    • Assess, recommend and implement the design of metrics, systems, and approaches that enhance operational delivery, enable value chain optimisation and embed new ways of working in accordance with AAOM principles.
    • Consult with process owners, develop new systems and practices designed to unlock value and work with the operational teams on the design and implementation of innovative ways to seamlessly integrate changes into established systems and practices.
    • Provide timely and accurate operational performance and benchmarking analysis ensuring key insights are highlighted.
    • Liaise effectively with key business contacts, technical teams and AAOM teams and build strong working relationships. 

    This role is in the Business Improvement Department at a Band 6 level reporting to the Business Improvement Manager

    Qualifications:
    Education required:

    • Bachelor degree or equivalent in Metallurgy (Mineral Processing) or Chemical Engineering.

    Experience required:

    • A proven track record of a minimum of 5 years operational experience in the Mining industry, with further experience in data analysis and/or Six Sigma.
    • Sound understanding of Business Improvement concepts and principles
    • Strong data analytics skills and experience with analysis, operational efficiencies and value chains.
    • Understanding of, and ability to perform statistical data analysis.

    Other requirements:

    • Computer Literacy - MS Office Suite (Word/Excel/Power Point/Outlook)
    • Effective communication skills in English (written and verbal)
    • Valid EB/Code 08 Drivers License
    • Successfully obtain a Red Ticket (Medical Fitness certificate)

    The post is dependent on the successful completion of the Company’s pre-employment protocol such as qualifications verification, relevant psychometric assessments and a clear security clearance
