    Category Manager (Senior) (Fourways)

    Description

    Purpose of the role

    • The Category Manager is responsible for the strategic and operational management of assigned product categories.
    • This role focuses on driving sales, optimizing product assortment, and ensuring alignment with the company’s overall offer strategy.
    • The Category Manager works closely with the Group Market Leader to achieve financial and operational targets.

    Key responsibilities:

    Category Strategy Development:

    • Define and implement category-specific strategies in line with market trends and customer needs.
    • Conduct market analysis to identify opportunities for growth and innovation

    Customer Focus:

    • Understand customer preferences and incorporate feedback into category strategies.
    • Ensure a seamless and engaging customer experience within the category.

    Product Management:

    • Oversee product selection, pricing, and lifecycle management.
    • Collaborate with suppliers to negotiate favorable terms and ensure product quality.

    Performance Monitoring:

    • Track and analyze category performance metrics, including sales, margin, and inventory turnover.
    • Implement corrective actions to address underperforming areas.

    Collaboration and Communication:

    • Work with cross-functional teams, including marketing and supply chain, to execute category plans.

    Junior Micro Space Planner (Fourways)

    Description

    Purpose of the role

    • To support the development and execution of optimised store layouts and merchandising strategies that enhance product visibility, drive sales, and improve the overall customer experience, while ensuring alignment with business goals and adherence to brand and safety standards

    Main Responsibilities

    • Collect, Analyze, and Formalize Information
    • Gather data from various teams (market, supply, stores, and suppliers) to inform the development of merchandising content and strategies.

    Develop and Update Merchandising Content

    • Create and regularly update planograms, showroom layouts, and supporting materials, ensuring that merchandising aligns with business objectives, brand principles, and safety regulations.

    Distribute Merchandising Content::

    • Efficiently distribute all merchandising materials and guidelines to relevant stakeholders, ensuring smooth and consistent implementation across stores.

    Collaborate and Innovate:

    • Work closely with cross-functional teams, including supply, web, and stores, to continuously refine and improve merchandising strategies. Challenge existing methods and contribute to the growth and innovation of the team.
    • Assist senior Micro Space Planners with designing store layouts and displays that enhance product visibility and maximize space utilization.
    • Use merchandising software to create and update planograms, while identifying areas for improvement in product placement and customer flow.
    • Analyze sales data and customer feedback to drive recommendations for enhancing store performance.
    • Ensure that all store displays adhere to company safety standards and brand guidelines, maintaining consistency across locations.

    Requirements

    • Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree or diploma in merchandising, retail management, design, business, or a related field (preferred).
    • Experience: Some experience in retail sales or procurement with a focus on merchandising techniques, preferably through internships, projects, or entry-level positions.
    • Technical Skills: Proficiency in merchandising software (e.g., Blue Yonder (JDA), Spaceman, or similar tools) is highly desirable.
    • Project Management: Strong project management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks and prioritize effectively.
    • Visual Merchandising Knowledge: Understanding of visual identity guidelines, branding principles, and merchandising best practices.
    • Market Awareness: Strong awareness of market trends, challenges, and opportunities in retail environments.
    • Communication Skills: Excellent communication and relationship-building skills for effective collaboration across teams.

    Learning and Development Officer (Fourways)

    Purpose of the Role:

    • The Learning and Development (L&D) Officer will be responsible for managing, coordinating, and facilitating all learning and development activities within the organization.
    • This includes both external and internal training programs, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements, and overseeing the smooth delivery and tracking of training initiatives.
    • The role will contribute to the overall growth and capability building of employees by promoting a culture of continuous learning and development.

    Key Responsibilities:

    Program Coordination and Facilitation:

    • Coordinate external and internal training programs, including SETA, statutory training, leadership development, integration training, and SOP (Standard Operating Procedure) training.
    • Facilitate internal training sessions when needed, ensuring learning materials are up-to-date and effective.
    • Manage relationships with external training providers for statutory, leadership, and SETA-related programs.

    Monitoring and Reporting:

    • Track the progress of all L&D programs and provide regular reports on training outcomes, attendance, and completion rates.
    • Ensure data accuracy across all L&D reports and systems (e.g., Learning Cloud, Shared Drive, etc.).
    • Monitor the effectiveness of training programs by gathering feedback and making adjustments as necessary to enhance learning outcomes.

    Program Administration:

    • Maintain accurate records of all training activities, including attendance, certifications, and compliance requirements.
    • Ensure that all learning materials (SOPs, guides, etc.) are properly filed, updated, and stored in appropriate locations (Learning Cloud, Shared Drive).
    • Support the transition of SOP training from the HR Public Drive to the Training Private section.

    Data Management and Accuracy:

    • Ensure that all data related to L&D activities is maintained accurately, including employee training records, completion status, and assessments.
    • Use data to identify gaps in training and propose solutions to address them.

    Support and Communication:

    • Act as a point of contact for all L&D-related inquiries and support employees and management in their learning and development needs.
    • Communicate upcoming training sessions, program details, and any changes to the relevant stakeholders.

    Compliance and Statutory Training:

    • Ensure that the organization remains compliant with all statutory training requirements.
    • Work closely with external training providers to deliver mandatory training programs such as SETA-related training.

    Travel Requirements:

    • The role will involve travel to external training providers, other stores and potentially stores in and around Johannesburg

    Requirements

    Qualification and Requirements

    • Senior Certificate (Matric)
    • Relevant tertiary qualification in Human Resources Management is advantageous
    • SDF Certification: Mandatory for this role.

    Excel Skills Mandatory

    • Train-the-Trainer Certification: An asset to effectively facilitate internal programs.
    • L&D Experience: 3-5 years of experience in Learning and Development, with proven success in delivering both internal and external training programs.
    • Retail Experience: Advantageous but not mandatory.
    • Technology Skills: Proficient in using learning management systems (LMS), digital learning tools, and data management software.

    Competencies:

    • Influential: Ability to guide and influence learners and stakeholders.
    • Relationship Building: Strong interpersonal skills to build trust with learners, providers, and management.
    • Problem-Solving: Proactively address issues related to training content, delivery, or participation.
    • Attention to Detail: Maintain high standards in program accuracy, documentation, and reporting.
    • Multi-tasking: Manage multiple training programs and initiatives simultaneously.
    • Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills to convey information effectively.
    • Organizational Skills: Highly organized in managing multiple learning programs and data sets.
    • Ethical: Uphold high ethical standards, particularly in handling confidential employee data.
    • Teamwork & Collaboration: Work effectively within the HR team and across departments to promote a learning culture.
