    Engineer in Training (EIT) Road/Drainage - Transportation

    Overview

    • Woolpert Africa, based in Johannesburg and Cape Town, South Africa, offers extensive high accuracy lidar, imagery and remote sensing experience, as well as airborne topographic, hyper spectral, and thermal survey and mapping. We provide mapping services for engineering, infrastructure, mining, mapping, agriculture, and environmental sectors in more than 45 African countries.

    Responsibilities

    • Working for and under the advisement of Professionals to fulfil transportation tasks.
    • Assist with design and production of drainage, roadway, bridge, and transportation planning projects.
    • Work in several computer programs, following training, to perform engineering and design tasks.
    • Apply knowledge to calculations pertaining to design.
    • Aid in the design of 3D models for projects.
    • Assist in estimating cost for projects and funding.
    • Assist project staff as needed for a variety of projects.

    Qualifications

    • Minimum National Diploma in Civil Engineering
    • Minimum 2+ years experience in Roads/ Drainage
    • Must have drafting experience with AutoCAD/Civil 3D (MicroStation advantageous)

    Responsibilities

    • Reporting to the Solution Director, the Business Analyst is a Microsoft Dynamics 365 technical practitioner with the knowledge of a wide range of tools and techniques, along with experience of deploying them in a range of contexts.  This role is focused on maintaining and further developing an environment that supports the business needs of its stakeholders.  This role possesses refined interpersonal skills and can work under minimal supervision.

    Responsibilities

    • Liaises and builds relationships with stakeholders to understand business issues.
    • Liaises and builds relationships with external consultants to help with business issues.
    • Assists with stakeholder capturing requirements in line with business needs, facilitates defining and delivering appropriate solutions to meet those requirements.

    Geospatial LiDAR Processor

    Overview

    • As a Geospatial LiDAR Processor, you manage, process, analyze and interpret airborne and ground data per the client specifications to support various projects and initiatives within the organization. The role entails detailed technical ability in implementing digital mapping solutions. These include but not limited to LiDAR post processing, aerial triangulation, orthophoto rectification, DEM/DSM creation & editing, 3D photogrammetry, 3D MESH modelling, Oblique processing. Your work will contribute to informed decision-making, planning, and problem-solving across diverse industries, ranging from environmental conservation and urban planning to disaster management and resource exploration.

    Responsibilities

    • Be able to work in a team environment.
    • Be able to follow instructions.
    • Receive digital data, either aerial LiDAR, digital camera data or ground data.
    • Backup, evaluate, analyze & interpret the data, and check for errors.
    • Process airborne captured data to a version that will be delivered to clients and various stakeholders.
    • Analyze to ensure the client requirements are addressed.
    • Perform QAQC to ensure that the accuracy meet specified requirements.
    • Provide accurate and clear feedback on progress and results to relevant stakeholders.
    • Have a high moral compass and professionalism.

    Qualifications

    • 3 Years experience in the Geospatial industry. 
    • Relevant qualification in Geography, Geomatics, Geospatial Sciences, GIS, Remote Sensing, or a related field.
    • Proficiency in basic GIS software packages. 
    • Strong knowledge of geospatial data formats, coordinate systems, and data projections.
    • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to translate complex spatial concepts into actionable insights.
    • Strong attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
    • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal, to convey technical information to non-technical stakeholders.
    • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team environment.
    • Prior experience working with LiDAR GIS and remote sensing technologies is preferred, example Terrasolid & Microstation etc.
