    Driver 2: Heavy Motor Vehicle - Estate Section

    Driver 2: Heavy Motor Vehicle-Garden Section

    Requirement:

    • This position requires a Grade 10, Job Specific Qualification, or equivalent qualification at NQF 2 with 4 years of work experience in the relevant field, or a Grade 12, Job Specific Qualification, or equivalent qualification at NQF 4 with 3 years of work experience in the relevant field.
    • A valid drivers’ license (EC) with professional driving permit (PDP). A Higher Education Qualification, Job Specific Qualification or equivalent qualification at NQF 5 will be an added advantage.
    • The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position: Transport staff to and from work and work weekend and sleep in duties, drive the refuse removal truck or tractor assisting with loading or offloading of material, own safety and that of passengers, collecting and sorting recyclable materials from the various collecting sites to the recycle bins at the recycle station.
    • Operate vehicles on and outside premises, collect materials for orders. Routine maintenance and garaging of vehicles reporting all findings immediately to the supervisor. Daily vehicle inspection, mowing lawn. Assist machine operators with brush cutting of grass when requested. Assist garden and nursery operations. Work outside premises on occasions like exhibitions and displays and plant collecting trips. Loading and offloading of plant material. Assist in wildfire fighting and other emergencies. Operate Translation lookaside buffer (TLB) and drive trucks. Assist in production of mulch compost and wood chips, report pests and disease when executing your daily tasks. Comply with traffic rules and drive in a safe manner, comply with safety and security measures when using SANBI vehicles. Perform standby and sleep-in duty as well as work weekends according to the roster.

    Senior Specialist 2: Biodiversity Monitoring System Technical Lead

    The following competencies are required for the candidate to be successful in this position:

    • experience and knowledge of spatial and non-spatial data analysis and data science methods and processes, including the use of programming languages (preferably R or python), version control, relational databases, and statistical and spatial analysis methods; experience in data science in the environmental sector – preferably working with biodiversity/environmental-related indicators; proficiency in Microsoft 365 is essential; understanding of research processes and outputs, ideally related to state of biodiversity assessment and reporting; knowledge of international biodiversity-related multilateral environmental agreements, such as the Convention on Biological Diversity; project management experience, including coordinating teams of staff and external contributors, and managing donor-funded project finances and reporting to donors; and knowledge of government, human resources, procurement, and financial management policies at project management level would be an added advantage.

     Key Performance Responsibilities include:

    • Manage the donor-funded National Monitoring Support Initiative project finances, governance and reporting.
    • Design and implement the South African national biodiversity monitoring system to ensure effective reporting against the monitoring framework of the GBF and NBSAP.
    • Oversee the sourcing, developing and management of data to be utilised for the national biodiversity monitoring system, and manage relationships with data providers.
    • Oversee and manage development and implementation of indicator-related data analyses and other workflows; ensure appropriate databasing; ensure correct computation of indicators.
    • Implement and drive change, human capital development and transformation.
