    Artisan: Fitter and Turner - Brits

    Job Purpose

    • To ensure machine availability at all times within the planned budget. To be accountable for the service and maintenance of  machines in the area of responsibility.

    Responsibilities:

    • Do machine set ups and planned maintenance.
    • Daily walkthrough inspections.
    • Morning inspections of plant to make running adjustments and check for lubrication and leaks.
    • Preventative maintenance checks.
    • Attend CFT activities.
    • Apply 5S principles.
    • Fabricate precision replacement parts.
    • Must be adept at using measuring equipment e.g. micrometer, vernier etc.
    • Perform standby duties.

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12/N3 Certificate AND Trade Test Certificate.
    • N4 – N6 engineering qualification.
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in the mechanical field on rotation machinery, hydraulics and pneumatics in a manufacturing environment.

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the electrical field on rotation machinery.

    Breakdown Technician - Witbank

    Job Purpose

    Job Purpose We are looking for a Breakdown Technician reporting directly to the Branch Manager. This is a Local role, based in Witbank.

    You will Maintain good customer relations by providing excellent customer service. Work on breakdowns on a full time basis and assist with deliveries

    Responsibilities

    • Collection and transportation of goods Will be required to do breakdown work during and after hours
    • Ensure all tools including safety cage and safety equipment necessary for breakdowns is on break down vehicle
    • Accurate and timely attendance to customer breakdowns
    • Safe and effective operation of company vehicles
    • Accurate completion of all breakdown documentation.
    • Scrap tyres returned to branch and necessary documentation to be attached to breakdown sheet.
    • Client liaison and accurate record keeping of all goods in transit
    • Perform truck/car breakdown service as well as after hour breakdowns
    • Daily vehicle inspection and ensure clean vehicle appearance at all times
    • Ensure vehicle is serviced at correct intervals
    • Adhere to traffic regulations
    • Adherence to company policy and procedures

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12
    • Valid Code 08 Drivers License & PDP
    • Two years Driving experience
    • Self disciplined with high level of integrity
    • Good English verbal and written communication skills

    Tyre Serviceman - Postmasburg

    Job Purpose

    The person must be able to work under supervision, appreciate their role in delivering customer service, possess common sense and initiative, demonstrate a willingness to learn and develop their tyre fitting skills and knowledge.

    Responsibilities 

    The following is a general list of tasks that a Tyre Serviceman is required to perform. The Company may add to or vary these duties from time to time provided the variation is reasonable having regard to the Employee’s skills, competence and training:

    • Comply with client policies, procedures and instructions.
    • Accurately record tyre change or other information and file or forward the information as required,
    • Perform equipment checks and calibrations according to procedures,
    • Fit and remove wheels from any type of vehicle according to procedures,
    • Mount and strip any type of tyre and rim assembly according to procedures,
    • Perform repairs to tyres and tubes according to procedures,
    • Operate forklifts and tyre handlers according to procedures.
    • Clean, paint and crack test rim components,
    • Perform Inspections and determine the suitability of wheel components to remain in service,
    • Maintain tyre operating pressures in accordance with site specifications,
    • Maintain a high quality of service to the client,
    • Present himself in a condition fit to perform his duties,
    • Complete any other duties allocated.

    Safety

    • Comply with site “lock out” / “tag out” procedures,
    • Report hazards, unsafe work conditions and equipment,
    • Immediately report incidents and injuries to the supervisor,
    • Comply with applicable instructions as per on-site Safety Plan,
    • Use and maintain Personal Protective Equipment according to procedures,
    • Perform vehicle Pre-start checks according to procedures.

    • Additional electives o ID 9864: Repair and replace light and heavy commercial vehicle tyres, Level 3, 17 credits. o ID 9865: Remove and replace wheels and tyres from industrial machines and equipment, Level 3, 10 credits.
    • ID 256176: Remove and replace off-the-road (OTR) wheels and tyres, Level 2, 8 credits.
    • Complete additional in-house training as required,
    • Complete additional external training as required,
    • Complete compulsory and additional site specific training.

    Qualifications and Experience 

    • A valid and appropriate light vehicle driver’s licence (South African Code 08).
    • Grade 12 National Certificate
    • A valid and appropriate heavy vehicle drivers licence (South African Code 10).

    Apprentice - Electrical

    Job Purpose

    • To optimize mixing specifications and compounds to achieve the most consistent extrusion and calendaring results and adequate tack levels of components reaching the tyre assembly department with emphasis placed on waste and scrap reduction meeting budgeted objectives.

    B-ME Maintenance Lead - Brits

    Job Purpose

    Manages the Progressive Maintenance (PM) process in the cell and is responsible for the elimination of losses related to inspections and failures; It constantly improves the following processes:

    Maintenance Planning & Scheduling (MP&S), Breakdown Elimination (BDE), contributing to the elimination of losses related to inspections and failures.

    Responsible for preparing a list of spare parts needed in the cell, supports activities optimizing the management of these parts.

    Contributes to the reduction of maintenance costs on machines in the cell.

    Responsible for disseminating technical knowledge among operators and, together with the Maintenance Leader in the area, for coordinating work related to Maintenance activities on machines in the cell.

    Responsibilities:

    Downtime Elimination (BDE) Management

    • Conducts in-depth analysis of failures and implements defined countermeasures
    • Responsible for the implementation of the failure data collection system

    Management of the Maintenance Planning Process (MP&S) Continuous Machine Improvements.

    • Owns Maintenance Planning and Scheduling process of the machines, establishes PMs with the central Maintenance and Planning Department and the head of production area.
    • Planning the execution of maintenance actions in the short, medium and long term
    • Creating and updating review standards

    Improving the technical knowledge of operators

    • Training operators in the principles of operation of individual machine elements in order to improve their knowledge and skills to detect defects
    • Training operators in the basic technical knowledge needed to perform Autonomous Maintenance work(CIL)

    Elimination of losses.

    • Attends DDS meetings to define priorities, tasks, and report results for the last 24 hours. During the meeting, he presents information to the team about failures and actions related to the maintenance of machines in operation.
    • Supervising periodic inspections, visual inspection and inspection of machines
    • According to the schedule, he supervises periodic inspections, visual inspection and inspections of machines Conducts analyses and requests technical and organizational changes aimed at reducing the costs of machine maintenance in the cell.

    Instrumentation Technician - Brits

    Job Purpose 

    To manage and ensure execution of all instrumentation activities which includes calibration, maintenance activities through artisans, operations and service providers. To manage all line and services availability, safety adherence and maintenance budget.

    Main responsibilities

    • Effectively delegate any maintenance issues to be resolved on all shifts and execute small and improvement projects.
    • Must ensure that all Instruments on machines are available for maximum production.
    • Eliminating engineering, maintenance and breakdown related losses
    • Manage all breakdowns within the manufacturing plant.
    • Manage and plan shutdown and maintenance on instrumentation equipment.
    • Report and ensure spare availability for instruments.
    • Perform calibrations on Instruments and keep record thereof.
    • Identify, Initiate and manage small Continuous Improvement projects (Kaizen) and support engineering projects on site.
    • Adhere to standards, ISO 14001 and ISO 9001 and ensure all safety issues are addressed and working according to company safety rules.
    • Ability to read P &IDs, Instrumentation and Electrical diagrams inclusive of device manuals
    • Strong knowledge and programming of Allen Bradley PLCs and FT View SE/ME Scada software development of Allen Bradley VSDs (Powerflex Range), Nidec Drives, Yaskawa Drives, Siemens Drives ,Mitsubishi Drives
    • Experience in PLC and HMI /SCADA  programming.
    • Setting up of Industrial IT networking (Device Net and Ethernet/IP) experience
    • Competence in instrumentation used in highly automated plants including  Boilers and auxiliary equipment
    • Should exhibit competence in Flow, Temperature ,Level ,Pressure ,Weight Control systems
    • Identify and resolve equipment malfunctions, provide support and recommendations for new and existing
    • equipment with regards to installations, upgrades and enhancements
    • Calibration
    • Perform tests and calibrations according to the schedule on the calibration management software in the manufacturing plant.
    • Ensure new instrument are added to the calibration database or calibration management software and schedule the calibration interval thereof.
    • Ensure calibration and / or test results are logged on the calibration management software and a written copy filed.
    • Ensure calibration methods are stipulated in the IB procedures, for any changes to the method changes ensure the changes are logged and updated accordingly.
