Minimum Requirements:

• NQF Level 8 qualification in Management/Business Administration with specialization in Security Risk Management or security related qualifications,
• Grade B, PSIRA Registration,
• At least 10 years’ experience in Protection Services of which 5 years in senior management/supervisory capacity,
• Knowledge in the security framework, crisis management at strategic and tactical level, investigations and technical security measures,
• Conducting security vulnerability assessments,
• Security operations management including emergency and crisis management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide strategic alignment of Protection Services and Traffic Control through development and implementation of strategic and operational plans on security and traffic
• Develops and implement security and safety policies and procedures such as emergency response and crisis management, disaster recovery, physical security and incident management.
• Ensures financial and contract management through development of a budget for Protection and Traffic in terms of the University’s strategic priorities.
• Provide team & stakeholder management through strategic leadership and advice on protection matters.
• Ensures systems management by overseeing that the data are collated and captured to effectively manage the Protection services function, e.g. statistics on the number/nature of security incidents reported by campuses.

Minimum Requirements

• Bachelor of Technology or equivalent (NQF level 7) qualification in engineering, with an undergraduate qualification in electronic and/or computer engineering.
• Experience in general electronic and/or computer engineering and computer hardware/software maintenance as well as working knowledge of software such as Python, MATLAB and/or Embedded C Programming.
• At least three (3) years relevant experience.

Additional Recommendations:

• Good communication skills.
• Knowledge of general electronic engineering laboratory equipment.

Summary of Duties:

• To coordinate and implement the effective operation, administration and maintenance of designated laboratories in the Department of Electronic and Computer Engineering.
• To support academic staff in the running of student practical sessions.
• Must be competent in the repair of basic electronic test and computer equipment.
• Must be able to maintain software and hardware on a small computer network running high-level software applications.
• Must have good communication skills – written/verbal/presentation in English.
• Must be able to work independently and achieve results on time.
• Must be able to plan and schedule work efforts including management of resources and to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Must be aware of, plan and implement safety measures within a laboratory environment.
• Place orders for new equipment and maintain an accurate asset register.
