    Internship: Intelligent Transport System

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Grade 12, (NQF level 4); and 
    • Completed NQF level 6 - National Diploma in IT/Network and Communication (ICT)/Advanced Public Transport Management Systems (APTMS)/Data Analysis/Automated Fare Collection (AFC); 
    • Only City of Joburg residents will be considered.  

    Primary Function:

    • Operate the terminal of the AFC system in the control centre. Receive “online " data regarding sales from the Automated Fare Company (AFC), station top-up vendors and the BOC in complimentary and feeder buses. Implement checks and balances to ensure consistency of technology. Monitor the data received from the AFC to identify problem areas, e.g. inadequacy of turnstiles. Request Manager: Control Centre to focus on any problem area identified.
    • Monitor above to determine the extent and nature of problem areas and present a motivated and substantiated proposal to the Deputy Director: Operations to address problem areas. Brief daily reports to the Deputy Director: Operations in respect of the number, extent and nature of interventions dealt with. Weekly and monthly report to the Deputy Director: Operations.
    • Provide support to and cooperate with the Fare Analyst to measure revenues against operational expenditures, ie. Checking the top-up vendor report, check the contract payment obligations, adjustment formulas, and the daily deposit report to evaluate and to project the economic cost of the operational plans and the technical and public fare.

    Deputy Director: Security Services

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Matric / Grade 12 Certificate. 
    • BTech degree / Advanced diploma in Security Management, or any other security-related qualifications at NQF level 7; 
    • Valid grade “A” PSIRA accredited certificate. 
    • (10) years of relevant experience with four (4) years at the middle management level within the Safety and Security Industry; 
    • Computer Literate in Microsoft Office Suite (End-User); 
    • Ability to organize, priorities and where applicable delegate work activities to efficiently accomplish tasks and meet objectives; 
    • Valid code “B” driver’s license; 

    Primary Function:

    • To strategically plan, operationally organize, direct and control Protection Services functions to create and maintain a secure working environment through the optimal deployment of available security resources (human and otherwise) systems policies and procedures within city core departments.  

    Key Performance Areas: 

    • Coordinate the provision, management and control of security services within the City of Johannesburg 
    • Manage the implementation of security measures, policies and procedures to protect personnel, assets, stakeholders and infrastructure to reduce risks. 
    • Manage the deployment of effective technology solutions and innovative security management techniques to safeguard the institution’s assets including intellectual property. 
    • Perform term long planning and execute the expected activities; 
    • Implementation of the department’s security policy and Standard operating procedures in conjunction with relevant law enforcement and security-related stakeholders and institutions. 
    • Direct and control the key performance and outcomes of personnel within the Security Services 
    • Manage the interface and relationship with keys stakeholders in support of meeting objectives; 
    • Manage and direct administrative and reporting requirements;

    Conservator (Technician)

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Grade 12 plus National diploma in Conservation, Museum Studies, Archaeology/ Art History or related field (NQF level 6); 
    • 3 – 4 years of practical experience in a museum or conservation laboratory;  

    Primary Function 

    • To ensure the long-term preservation and care of the museum collections by implementing preventive and interventive conservation practices, supporting exhibitions and loan and collaborating with staff to safeguard cultural heritage in accordance with professional conservation standards. 

    Key Performance Areas: 

    • Contribute to the Sub-section operational day-day planning process; 
    • Support process optimization and efficiency; 
    • Implement preventative and remedial conservation measures to safeguard collections from deterioration and damage. 
    • Carry out conservation treatment to stabilize and preserve objects using ethical and reversible methods; 
    • Assist with preparation and installation of exhibitions to ensure the safe display of objects; 
    • Overseeing the conservation aspect of incoming and outgoing loans to ensure object safety; 
    • Monitor and manage environment conditions in storage and exhibition areas to ensure optimal preservation of collections; 
    • Implement set management and control of assets and resources in line with applicable policies and procedures; 
    • Implement governance and risk management activities to mitigate potential issues and ensure project success; 
    • Execute activities to ensure effective stakeholders relations and communication, fostering positive relationships and ensuring stakeholder needs are met; 
    • Perform administrative tasks associated with individual day-to-day responsibilities; 
    • Maintain accurate and up to date conservation records and contribute to sub-section reporting.

    Director: Finance

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Matric/Grade 12 plus degree in Accounting / BCom or any financial related qualification on NQF level 7; 
    • 10 years’ experience of which 5 years inn middle management; 
    • 7 - 8 years managerial experience in the compilation analysis and interpretation of financial management reports and balance sheets analysis; 
    • 5 years’ experience in Public Sector Finance (MMFA or PMFA); 
    • Preference will be given to experience in financial management within the Local Government sphere and public sector sphere; 
    • Experience in budgeting, income and expenditure; 
    • Management and assets management; 
    • Experience in the MS Office application and access database; 
    • Project Management, risk management and Auditing will be an added advantage. 

    Primary Function:

    • Lead, direct and control the financial activities within the Department of Human Settlements (DoHS) through the development and implementation of strategies, policies procedures within the appropriate legislative frameworks.  

    Key Performance Areas: 

    • Develop strategies, police and procedures to be implemented by respective directorate within the department of Human Settlements; 
    • Direct, monitor and control procurement for all directorates within department of Human Settlements; 
    • To provide efficient and effective asset resources (materials and tools) management, monitoring and control within the Department of Human Settlements; 
    • Directing and leading the development of financial planning and strategy in the department of Human Settlements; 
    • Compile and consolidate reports prepared for the Head of departments for submission to the Group Financial Officer and other stakeholders; 
    • Dissemination of Financial information on policies, procedures, legislation and guidelines to all relevant stakeholders; 
    • Direct controls outcomes associated with utilisation, productivity and performance of people and to implement sound relations within the directorate; 
    • Provide effecting risk management and governance oversight in the directorate;

    Minimum Requirements: 

    • Grade 12 plus 
    • Relevant BEng or BSc (Eng) engineering degree and eligibility for registration with a professional body advantageous/NQF level 7;

    • Provide strong leadership and development for the project team, fostering a collaborative and high-performance work environment;

    • Implement governance and risk management activities to mitigate potential issues and ensure project success; 
    • Ensure effective budget control for all project-related expenditures by maintaining financial discipline and accountability; 
    • Execute specific activities to ensure effective stakeholder relations and communication, fostering positive relationships and ensuring stakeholder needs are met; 
    • Perform administrative tasks associated with the Capital Projects Section and individual performance, ensuring smooth operation and compliance with organisational performance; 
    • Compile comprehensive reports that provide insights into the performance of the Capital Projects Section, supporting informed decision-making and continuous improvement.
