    Senior Legal Advisor

    Job Description

    • This position is for a Senior Legal Advisor within a listed company in the financial services industry (corporate, LISP, retirement funds, collective investment schemes, Linked Life license, asset management, retail and institutional investment products). This is an excellent opportunity for an individual who thrives in a pressured and growing environment.

    DUTIES AND DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Senior legal advisory role supporting the Head of Legal, business and working with other Senior Legal Advisors.
    • Exceptional drafting and vetting skills for all internal and external agreements across all business units and products (corporate, finance, investment management, outsourcing, mandates, proposal forms, investment policies, administration, securities lending, intermediary and IFA, investment consultant, supplier, resolutions and the like) 
    • Taxation in relation to the company’s products and services;
    • Legal documentation management – sign off, filing, etc.
    • Keeping up to date with relevant legislation and interpreting such legislation applicable to the business 
    • Dealing with legal queries from all business units (investment team, retail, institutional, IT, HR, finance and corporate), and providing appropriate advice and legal opinions
    • Assisting with the legal drafting or amendment of all marketing collateral, application forms, website content, client letters, etc.
    • General corporate commercial contracts such as IT agreements, software license agreements, etc.
    • Training of staff on legal and product matters
    • Interacting with the regulators, particularly the PA and the FSCA
    • Managing litigation matters as required 
    • Knowledge of Companies Act, JSE Listing Requirements, related party transactions etc and legislation and regulation related to the company’s products and services
    • Knowledge of prudential standards related to life companies

    ROLE QUALIFICATIONS 

    • Admitted attorney with at least 10 years PQE
    • Post graduate diploma in Financial Planning beneficial

    EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

    • A minimum of 8-10 years’ relevant experience in financial services (non-banking)
    • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
    • Good working knowledge of financial industry as a whole and legislation relevant to the business e.g. including but not limited to FAIS, Financial Markets Act, Pension Funds Act, Insurance Act, CISCA, Income Tax Act, and FICA
    • Experience working with and implementing AI in daily work

    Employee Benefits Administrator

    ROLE DESCRIPTION:

    DUTIES AND DAILY RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Following up of monthly contributions
    • Managing data received from clients
    • Reconciliation, allocation and investment of monthly contributions within the required turnaround times
    • Reporting non-compliance with section 13A as well as issue invoices and follow up payment of late payment interest
    • Reconciliation and deduction of risk premiums and fund expenses
    • Monitor the bank account for the receipt of individual transfers and/or follow up with the transferor fund if not received within a reasonable timeframe
    • Reconciliation, allocation and investment of section 14 and individual transfers received from or paid to other retirement funds when required
    • Disinvestment and payment of all types of claims within the required turnaround times (e.g. divorce, death, retirement, etc)
    • Checking documentation received for benefits is complete and accurate and following up on outstanding documentation
    • Liaising with insurers on risk claims (e.g. disability, funeral, death, etc)
    • Applications for tax directives to SARS
    • Review of administration reports for trustees and or management committees
    • Assisting the fund accounting team with their preparation of relevant schedules for audit purposes
    • Generate and check the annual benefit statements for accuracy prior to distribution to clients
    • Investigating and responding to employer and member queries in a professional manner
    • Investigating and responding to queries from the accounting, consulting and other relevant team members
    • Working closely with all relevant parties, e.g. internal and external consultants, participating employers, trustees, principal officers, fund accountants, etc
    • Assisting with other ad hoc tasks that may arise from time to time

    ROLE QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Diploma/Degree Advantageous
    • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in Employee Benefits
    • Previous experience with umbrella fund administration and/or standalone retirement fund administration
    • Working knowledge and experience of Everest (administration system) advantageous

    CIS Client Investment Administrator

     Role Description:

    Duties and daily responsibilities:

    • Processing client creations and liquidations and the related client flow payments
    • Processing of local and foreign trades instructions and the related payments
    • Processing of equity and derivative trading (local and international)
    • Preparation of custody instructions
    • Scrip and cash reconciliations including investigations
    • Processing and payments of monthly fees
    • Daily reporting to clients, including dissemination of unit prices and trade confirmation statements within service level agreements including Monthly client reporting
    • Ensuring all processes and controls are followed
    • Assist and resolve customer/internal queries quickly and efficiently.
    • Assisting with ad hoc. regulatory reporting (C23)

    Education & Experience

    • Bachelor of Business Science degree/ Bachelor of Commerce degree or equivalent tertiary qualification.
    • No prior work experience required – this role is suitable for recent graduates.
    • Strong numerical and analytical skills with a high level of accuracy
    • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
    • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
    • Strong communication and problem-solving skills
