    Assistant Manager: Conference Centre

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • To manage, supervise, prepare, and assist with audio-visual equipment and related aids, logistical support of events, conferences, as well as maintenance of all facilities, equipment, and venues under the department's control and coordination of all discussions;

    Clinical Programme Coordinator (Registered Nurse) - School of Medicine - Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology - Faculty of Health Sciences

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The incumbent is expected to perform the following duties. Please note that the below provides a high-level overview and may not include all related functions that may be required:

    • Working closely with the core project team to engage district and sub-district stakeholders, selecting sites, and participating in preliminary planning and preparation for implementation at the district and sub-district level;
    • Working closely with the local sub-district manager and facility staff to plan and prepare for implementation at the facility level;
    • Conducting facility baseline assessments and staff skills assessments;
    • Through a process of joint planning and problem-solving with onsite teams, facilitating operational changes that support efficient service delivery and high-quality clinical care;
    • Training and mentoring professional nurses and other facility staff on clinical topics relevant to the project, including vertical transmission prevention, PrEP, ART, VL monitoring and management, family planning, management of the HIV-exposed infant and other elements of an integrated package of care for the mother-infant pair (MIP).
    • Conducting quality assurance and quality improvement activities;
    • Supporting accurate record-keeping and data management;
    • Ensuring that patient and data confidentiality are maintained at all times;
    • Generating reports at intervals as requested by the research team;
    • Collaborating with team members to understand and address evolving issues;
    • Attending weekly or bi-weekly meetings with the research team;
    • Being the point person at a facility level, at any clinical or service delivery-related queries and reporting of problems. 

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    • 3-year nursing degree;
    • 10 years’ work experience as a professional (registered) nurse providing front-line nursing services;
    • 10 years’ work experience as a HIV/AIDS/STI/TB (HAST)/Vertical Transmission Prevention (VTP)/Maternal/Neonatal/Child/Women’s Health (MNCWH) sub-district coordinator/programme manager in the public sector;
    • 1-year managerial experience, providing quality comprehensive supervision for patient-centred service delivery and integrated care;
    • Registration with the South African Nursing Council;
    • Driver’s License.

    Lecturer (One Post) - School of Health Systems and Public Health - Faculty of Health Sciences

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Lecturing and mentoring undergraduate and postgraduate students;
    • Supervising postgraduate students at master’s level;
    • Collaborating with scientists working on vector aspects of mosquito-borne diseases, with a primary focus on malaria vectors;

    Senior Veterinary Nurse - Skills Laboratory Division

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Presenting formal scheduled and informal practical sessions for BVSc and BVetNurse students; 
    • Conducting and assisting in professional skills development  sessions for the BVSc and BVetNurs students;
    • Preparing of and participating in the Objective Structured Clinical Examination (OSCE) sessions for BVSc and BVetNurse students;

    Senior Academic Programmes Specialist and Faculty Liaison - Department of Enrolment and Student Administration

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The successful candidate’s responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    Curriculum management:

    • Manage the development of and the amendment to programmes within the UP regulatory framework and ensure alignment with higher education regulatory requirements as set out by the Council for Higher Education (CHE), Higher Education Quality Committee (HEQC), and South African Qualifications Authority (SAQA) policy documents;
    • Manage the regulation amendment process by assessing the proposed changes in terms of their financial, operational, strategic and compliance risk;
    • Advise academics on the outcome of the above assessment, and collaborate with the Faculty to ensure that the final proposal complies with higher education as well as institutional regulatory requirements;
    • Manage the accurate capturing of approved programme and curriculum changes on the online system to ensure correct yearbook information;
    • Manage the updating of the annual curriculum booklets for relevant faculties;
    • Review existing practices to innovate the effectiveness and efficiency of processes continuously;
    • Compile and submit reports as required;

    Faculty liaison:

    • Cultivate and maintain professional relationships and close collaboration with all relevant stakeholders in the regulation amendment process;
    • Facilitate partnerships between faculties and relevant stakeholders in the regulation amendment process;
    • Review regulation amendment documentation in collaboration with the relevant stakeholders for submission to the Faculty Board and Senate;

    Lecturer/Senior Lecturer/Associate Professor/Professor: Pathology - Department of Paraclinical Sciences

     RESPONSIBILITIES:

    The successful candidate will actively participate in the following areas:

    • Undergraduate and postgraduate teaching in veterinary pathology;
    • Experiential training of undergraduate and postgraduates in veterinary diagnostic pathology;

    Senior Lecturer: 

    • A BVSc or BVMCh degree or equivalent professional veterinary qualification;
    • MMedVet (Path) degree from the University of Pretoria OR a European/ American Board-Certified degree in veterinary pathology (ECVP / ACVP); 
    • Registered or amenable to be authorized with the SAVC; 
    • At least 2 years’ experience in diagnostic veterinary pathology laboratory/ institution; and
    • At least two peer-reviewed paper in the field of veterinary pathology in an accredited scientific journal as senior or co-author.

    Associate Professor:

    • A BVSc or BVMCh degree or equivalent professional veterinary qualification;
    • MMedVet (Path) degree from the University of Pretoria OR a European/ American Board-Certified degree in veterinary pathology (ECVP / ACVP); 
    • Registered or amenable to be authorized with the SAVC;
    • Five years’ experience as a specialist in veterinary pathology;
    • At least five full peer reviewed papers in accredited scientific journals as senior or co-author;
    • A record of previous undergraduate and postgraduate teaching experience;
    • Successful supervision of Masters students;
    • The ability to attract independent research funding;
    • Participatory membership of professional bodies; and
    • Evidence of academic scholarship and professional national recognition.

    Professor:

    • An appropriate PhD-degree; 
    • Registered or amenable to be authorized with the SAVC;
    • Significant national and international professional recognition;
    • Substantial experience in research, supported by a sustained record and impact of publications in national and international accredited journals with focus on Veterinary Pathology;
