    Prelab Admin Officer (6 Month Contract)

    Purpose of Position:

    • To sort, distribute, receive and process samples, operate the automate, resolve queries and perform administrative tasks as required.

    Requirements:

    • Grade 12 (Required), HPCSA Registration in Relevant Register and Practice Field

    Required Experience:

    • 1 - 2 years relevant laboratory experience, 2-3 Years general experience in a medical environment, Knowledge: Google and Google Mail, Knowledge: HPCSA regulations, Knowledge: Human Tissue Act, Knowledge: Medical Terminology, Knowledge: Meditech system, Knowledge: MS Word and MS Excel, Knowledge: Occupational Health and Safety Act (OSHA), Knowledge of Ampath Safety, Health and Environment management policy

    Key Responsibilities:

    • File and discard specimens in order to ensure sufficient storage and discarding of specimens. (, Maintain good client relations to promote the image of Ampath.,
    • Manually process and prepare specimens in order to ensure effective processing and delivery of specimens to Westridge Autolab clinical departments and / or to Ampath and / or non-Ampath referral laboratories.,
    • Perform administration tasks in order to ensure effective administration systems in the laboratory and that relevant safety & accreditation standards are met, and to ensure effective recording and access to information and availability of relevant updated information to internal clients.,
    • Perform Automate functions in order to ensure continuous workflow and optimal functioning of the Automate at all times.,
    • Perform general laboratory tasks within scope of practice in order to ensure effective functioning of the laboratory including maintenance and quality control on instruments.,
    • Perform helpdesk functions in order to ensure all queries, add-ons, outstandings and problem specimens and queries are handled timeously in order to ensure effective delivery of service and to ensure client satisfaction,
    • Perform safety related tasks in order to ensure that safety standards are upheld within the laboratory.

    Phlebotomy Trainer- Cedar Road Fourways

    Purpose of Position:

    • To coordinate, design, and present relevant business unit induction/onboarding, including Phlebotomy procedures and processes to relevant phlebotomy employees. Provide continuous refresher training to phlebotomy employees to ensure desired quality standards and competency levels are maintained across the business unit.

    Requirements:

    • Relevant HPCSA/SANC registration (Required), Relevant Phlebotomy or Nursing qualification (Required), Train-the-Trainer and Assessor certifications. If not already completed, successful certification completion will be mandatory upon appointment. (Required)

    Required Experience:

    • 4 or more years of Phlebotomy experience within a Pathology environment, Active listening skills to listen, understand and respond suitably, Advanced understanding of phlebotomy procedures,
    • Knowledge of MS Suite (Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Word)., Knowledge of OSH act, Knowledge of the Meditech System, Knowledge of the relevant scope of practice, Knowledge of various teaching methods, techniques, and approaches,
    • Sound business acumen to understand the key internal and external factors impacting the success of the Care Centre including delivering an exceptional customer experience and maintaining a high quality reputation., Sound organisational skills to schedule and coordinate training, content, venues, etc.,
    • Strong communication skills to read, write, and speak fluently in English and communicate with clarity, precision, and influence., Strong computer skills to use computer technology effectively.,
    • Strong facilitation skills to effectively engage, manage, and direct people and teams, Strong presentation skills to confidently deliver content and explain concepts to a group of people that achieves the objective.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Assess assessment evidence in order to make judgements regarding employee competence., Conduct training needs analysis and design programs and training material to address Phlebotomy-related skill gaps.,
    • Coordinate, and present business unit induction/onboarding for new Phlebotomy employees (and existing employees, if required) to provide them with insight into the overall functioning of Ampath.,
    • Design training material and present Phlebotomy training programs to ensure that sufficient competency levels and quality standards are maintained across the business unit., Maintain good client relations and promote the image of Ampath.
    • Manage, coordinate, and present training as specified by the Regional Managing Pathologist based on the business unit’s needs (which may include LIS training, and Customer Care) to relevant employees as required., Participate in annual peer reviews in collaboration with the Phlebotomy Training department to ensure ongoing professional competence.,
    • Perform general training-related administration tasks to ensure effective recording and storage of relevant training information.

    Technologist: Clinpath (Vereeniging)

    Purpose of Position:

    • To perform routine and stat analyses of samples and maintain analysers / instruments in a Clinical Laboratory

    Requirements:

    • HPCSA registration as Medical Technologist (Clinical Pathology) (Required), National Diploma in Medical Technology (Clinical Pathology) / BHs MLS (Degree in Bachelor of Health Science in Medical Laboratory Sciences) (Required)

    Required Experience:

    • 1-2 years working experience within a pathology environment

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Maintain good client relations in order to promote the image of Ampath,
    • Perform administration tasks in order to ensure effective administration systems in the laboratory,
    • Perform Quality Control procedures in the laboratory in order to ensure best practices are upheld.,
    • Process routine bench work in laboratory in order to ensure efficient processing of specimens,
    • Provide technical support within laboratory in order to ensure the efficient flow of specimens and timeous resulting of specimen,
    • Train laboratory staff in order to ensure continuous development and education

    Phlebotomist: Contract - Christiaan Barnard Memorial Hospital

    Purpose of Position:

    • To provide quality customer service and to collect non-blood and blood specimens for medical pathology analysis, within the legal-ethical framework of the nursing profession in a phlebotomy environment.

    Requirements:

    • Relevant HPCSA/SANC registration (Required), Relevant Phlebotomy or Nursing qualification (Required)

    Required Experience:

    • Experience as a Phlebotomist or similar position within a pathology or hospital environment.

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Maintain good client relations and promote the image of Ampath.,
    • Manage the money/cash flow of the Care Centre to facilitate the collection of payments for phlebotomy services rendered.,
    • Perform administrative tasks to ensure correct recording and processing of information.,
    • Perform phlebotomy procedures to ensure sufficient delivery of the Care Centre services.,
    • Perform safety and quality control tasks to ensure that relevant standards are upheld.
