    Engineering Technician FABL

    Major Activities

    • Perform all relevant maintenance activities on equipment and systems as per the relevant LSP, station instructions and equipment manufacturer recommendations
    • Ensure that maintenance to buildings at the sites, the site itself such as roads, grass cutting, fencing, antenna masts, terrestrial communications and power from point of supply is maintained to ATNS standards
    • Compliance to SLA’s
    • Ensure that the relevant equipment competences are attained as per station requirements and the appropriate Skills Matrix grading
    • Perform “I” Level corrective fault diagnosis down to module (LRU) level
    • Perform “I” Level corrective maintenance through module (LRU) replacement
    • Perform “O” Level restoration of service by reconfiguration and/or changeover by means of supervisor positions and remote control, monitoring and maintenance systems. (RCMMS)
    • Perform “D” Level corrective maintenance where applicable as per ATNS support policy
    • Compliance within SLA’s
    • Draft useful, informative and concise technical reports on systems and equipment as requested and proactively when the need arises
    • Capture all relevant data on the CBMMS
    • Compliance with RT procedures
    • Compliance with Airport Regulations
    • Understand the impact of equipment availability on the national ATM service delivery
    • Ensure compliance with ATNS ISO 9001 procedures.
    • Ensure compliance with SACAA and ICAO recommendations
    • Comply with the ATNS OH&S plan
    • Liaison with ATC; peers and external clients
    • Become proficient in the “O” level support of all Communications, Navigation and Surveillance systems and Equipment at your center
    • Become proficient in the “O” level support of all Support systems and equipment at your center, which will include UPS’s, Air-conditioning, Stand-by power, Fire protection and Alarm systems where required as per the SSI
    • Develop an understanding of and become proficient in RCMMS methods for the effective evaluation of system and equipment performance
    • Become proficient in the use of specialized test, monitoring and B.I.T.E equipment
    • Develop an understanding of testing methods for the effective evaluation of system and equipment performance
    • Knowledge of all other applicable ATNS Centre and Shift requirements
    • Knowledge of all other FIR environments

    Minimum requirements

    Minimum Qualifications

    • S4 National Diploma in Light Current Electronic Engineering or equivalent, granting admittance to ECSA as an Engineering Technician or Technologist.
    • B-Engineering Tech
    • A valid code 8 driver’s license; preferably ACSA AVOP certified

    Instructor: Air Traffic Services

    Job description

    • Prepare pre-course administration as per approved curricula/syllabi and QMS requirements.
    • Draft a course Programme for each course and ensure approval thereof in accordance with the QMS.
    • Oversee arrangements for certification and graduation of delegates as per QMS.
    • Meet specific section, team and individual research and development objectives.
    • Ensure familiarity with international and domestic client training and development needs.
    • Contribute and participate in the ATA ATS Section’s Continuation Training Programme.
    • Conduct research and development in areas of expertise.
    • Conduct theory and practical tests and assessments in compliance with QMS procedures.
    • Conduct training according to the approved syllabi, curricula, lesson plans, practical exercises and training objectives.
    • Ensure evaluation of training presented, as stipulated in the QMS.
    • Compliance with scheduled activities as per approved course programs to be observed and ensured.
    • Conduct theory and practical assessments feedback to students in compliance with QMS procedures.

    Minimum requirements
    Minimum Experience

    • ATS qualification as prescribed in ATNS Company Policies
    • On-the-job training qualification from an approved institution.
    • Train-the-trainer qualification from an approved institution will be an advantage.
    • Assessor and moderator qualifications from an approved institution will be an advantage.

    Minimum Experience

    • Minimum period of two years post validation experience in an operational environment as a validated ATC.

    Manager: IT Operations

    Major Activities

    • Management of ICT operations: Manage and maintain operational infrastructure, coordinate and monitor IT services, investigate and resolve IT issues and assess and report on IT system performance. Ensure the ongoing availability and accessibility of IT systems and services required by the organisation by maintaining the network and computer systems, installing and upgrading software, implementing security measures, and monitoring system performance.
    • Manage the implementation, maintenance and support of ICT operations that include Storage and Servers, WAN/LAN, Internet Services, VoIP systems, Operating Systems, Databases, ICT service delivery, Office Automation, Mobile Communication services, Next Generation Firewalls, End User Support, ICT Asset Management, ICT Network, Infrastructure security and ICT Network Access Management Develop a technology roadmap for ICT operations.
    • Manage and monitor services provided by ICT external service providers and vendors. Ensure operational efficiency and optimal use of ICT infrastructure assets. Manage the acceptance testing processes of ICT operations. Provide input into the process of identifying research and development initiatives in respect of ICT infrastructure technologies. Benchmark ATNS network operations with advanced or similar industry areas and make recommendations on improvement of operational efficiency.
    • Develop and maintain the ICT Service Catalogue and ensure it is updated regularly. Define KPIs and metrics for the ICT operations that will ensure effective delivery service for ATNS to meet the requirements of both internal and external customers. Facilitate the development and completion of SLAs with internal and external customers. 
    • Governance, Planning, and Risk Management: Manage the development and continued review of applicable dashboards for monitoring of ICT operations and deploy resources to perform proactive monitoring. Ensure compliance with IT operations with relevant policies, processes, regulation and legislation, including POPIA, GDPR, ECT, etc. Develop a capacity planning model for ICT operations and translate current infrastructure utilisation into a capacity forecasting and planning model. Ensure that effective data recovery plans are in place to ensure business continuity in case of a disaster.
    • Participate in relevant ATNS Governance committees according to the T&I Governance Framework and prepare applicable submissions for approval, recommendation or noting by the relevant committees. Review audit reports to understand findings and their implications and develop mitigation and related action plans to prevent recurrence in the future. Continuously review and update IT Operations policies, processes and procedures in line with relevant legislation and regulation. Ensure timely compilation and submission of all required reports (internal and external) to ensure compliance with governance requirements. Ensure the implementation of Quality Management System processes by documenting and maintaining Quality Management processes and procedures. 
    • Stakeholder Relations Management: Develop and maintain constructive and productive stakeholder relations across the business and with relevant external parties to enable collaboration and alignment. Monitor outputs by third-party suppliers to ensure optimum value. Review performance of suppliers against SLA on a regular basis in line with ATNS policies and procedures. Ensure that external contractors comply with ongoing requirements as per contract terms and conditions. 
    • Financial Management: Provide input into the development of the IT Operations budget to meet capacity demands as per the planning model. Manage delegated expenditure in line with business objectives and priorities, and within approved financial parameters. Report on expenditure including any possible deviations to the budget on a monthly basis. Ensure compliance with ATNS Finance policy and Delegation of Authority. Provide the required supporting documents to enable effective auditing processes.
    • People Management: Manage employees in accordance with Human Capital policies and processes. Ensure that new employees have been properly on-boarded prior to commencing work. Monitor the time and attendance of subordinates and report absenteeism issues to management and Human Capital. Set objectives, and coach and monitor the performance of the IT operations team. Manage performance outputs of the IT operations team through the performance management system and take corrective action promptly and effectively. Coach and mentor staff to ensure skilled and competent employees.

    Minimum requirements

    Minimum Formal Qualifications: 

    •        B.Sc./ B.Com / B-Tech in IT or related field.
    •        Certification required: ITIL Foundation Certificate, Agile Scrum Master Certificate or Certified Scrum Master (SCM)Certificate is required

    Minimum Years of Experience

    • Minimum 5 years' experience in an ICT Infrastructure and Services operations environment of which at least 3 years at a managerial level
    • Certification in at least one Virtual Hypervisor Platform will be an advantage
    • Certificate with one of the Cloud Infrastructure Provisioning Vendors will be an advantage
    • Linux Skills will be an advantage
    • Certified Information Systems Auditor (CISA) will be an advantage
    • Certified Network Associate Certificate (CCNA or HCNA) will be an advantage

    International ATS Instructor FTC (5-Year contract)

    Job description

    • To provide ATS specific and related generic training and development services to clients, in accordance with laid down internal and external regulations, rules, directives and procedures. 

    Minimum requirements

    Formal Qualifications: 

    •  Matric/ High school diploma
    • Bachelor’s degree is preferable.
    • Has completed all relevant rating courses from ICAO approved academy/school or college.
    • Train- the-Trainer course from ICAO approved academy/school or college.
    • Certificate of competence for assessor and moderator courses.
    • ICAO English language proficiency (ELP) level 5.

    Experience:

    • Have / had ATC license from ICAO approved authority for a period of 10 years or more with the Area Procedural / Surveillance and Approach Procedural / Surveillance ratings or all validated ATS rating disciplines.
    • Have ATS Instructor license / certificate issued by ICAO approved authority for 5 years or more.
    • Operational experience with ATC simulators including scenario design for simulator platform (e.g. TopSky, ATC Coach etc)
    • Experience demonstrating excellent teaching and classroom management techniques.
    • Experience of strong technical skills with current ATC automation, simulator systems and procedures.
    • Experience of 5 years as an assessor and moderator.
    • Experience of course development (Competency based training & assessment) would be valuable.

    English Language Proficiency Specialist (Re-Advertisement)

    Job description

    • Deliver basic, intermediate or advanced Aviation English language training to all local and international Air Traffic Services (ATS) delegates as and when required as per the ICAO English language proficiency guidelines.
    • Ensure that optimum Aviation English training solutions are consistently developed, updated and maintained.
    • Adhere to training activities following approved training plans, curricula, syllabi, training and daily schedules and related QMS documentation.
    • Develop educational material to support the delivery of Aviation English language training courses and related courses.
    • Monitor trainees’ progress against the interim and final Aviation English language standards to diagnose root causes of language difficulties and recommend remedial training interventions when necessary.
    • Diagnose individual deficiencies and provide timely remediation in a manner that will aid trainee progress to attain the minimum Aviation English language level.
    • Diagnose systematic deficiencies and provide recommendations to ATA management for remediation and continuous improvement.
    • Carry out valid and reliable assessments and examinations, using appropriate assessment tools, following approved assessment plans, and gathering evidence of competent performance through oral observations and any other relevant methodologies.
    • Develop and compile assessment tools to ensure fair and objective assessment of integrated performance and, whilst at the same time, evaluate the performance of the identified competency elements against interim and final competency standards.
    • Analyse results, reports and feedback for continuous improvement of Aviation English language proficiencies and relevant techniques.
    • Manage issues related to trainee attitude by employing appropriate techniques to support trainees in acquiring or adjusting attitudes to create a values-based safety culture within ATNS and in adherence to the ATNS Code of Conduct.
    • Review and amend (if appropriate) assessment exercises and training objectives to ensure fit-for-purpose Aviation English language is maintained.
    • Attend and participate in international Linguist conferences, seminars, workshops and events to continuously benchmark Aviation English language course delivery methodologies, techniques and practices for continuous improvement purposes.

    Minimum Education:

    •  Bachelor’s degree in foreign language training
    • ICAO English Language Proficiency (ELP) Assessment: Aviation English Rater course
    • Master’s degree in English Language Teaching will be an advantage
    • Accredited by the South African Civil Aviation Authority

    Minimum Experience:

    • Minimum of three years’ experience delivering Aviation English Language training to Air Traffic Controllers, Pilots and other licensed personnel under the ICAO annexure 1.
    • Experience in delivering Aviation English Language training to local and international non-English speaking clients
    • Radiotelephony and aviation familiarisation (through aviation English apprenticeship or experience)
    • Competence in Microsoft Office applications.
    •  Good command of the English language.
