  • Senior Controller (Exports & Imports; Air, Ocean and Road)

    Qualifications:

    • Matric / Grade 12 certificate mandatory
    • Tertiary education an advantage
    • Must be in possession of a valid and unendorsed Code 08 driver’s license                                                                                
    • Must have completed relevant freight and logistics course

    Experience: 

    • A minimum of five (5) years’ experience within the Clearing and Forwarding Industry at controller level.
    • A minimum of 3 years woking experience within the Oil and Gas/Project/Marine sector of the market at controller level.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Forwarding & Clearing of Import cargo in accordance with client requirements
    • Receive instructions and documents
    • Track allocated cargo
    • Expedite cargo with carriers, terminals, depots and other transport operators
    • Keep clients informed and handle queries from clients and other stakeholders and departments
    • Keep system updated with all communication and documentation received and affected
    • Ensure that all disbursements are recorded and recovered
    • Initiate claims in respect of lost, damaged or discrepant cargo
    • Maximize customer satisfaction through co-operation with allied disciplines
    • Identify and take the appropriate mitigating steps to limit all risk issues
    • Continual evaluation on cost savings and process improvement
    • Ability to work closely with BIL and International Partners from a junior to senior level 
    • To support the BU Manager in the implement and maintain relevant ISO and operational procedures when required.

    Export Controller

    QUALIFICATION:

    • Matric
    • Relevant shipping qualification would be an advantage.

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Atleast 2 years experience in controller type role.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Taking control and ownership of the shipment and keeping the client pro-actively informed of the progress of the export shipments.
    • Booking of cargo, monitoring of stacks / loading dates and ETD's and keeping clients updated accordingly. Arranging movement of cargo from shipper to Port. 
    • Complete registration to invoicing on Cargo wise, including all processing and any rework required (VOC)
    • Controlling the movement of the shipment from customs clearance to transport arrangements, movements of cargo to export stack, providing the client with draft documentation, tracking vessel sailing, release of bills of lading from the shipping line, sending final pre-alerts to the client, invoicing of the file and forwarding the billing invoice to the clients.
    • Controlling of shipment based on Inco terms.
    • Recording of all shipment activities on Cargo-wise system.(Milestones, detailed Clients and internal notes)
    • QC all pro-forma invoices, ensure that all supplier invoices are received and captured, and all disbursements are recovered.
    • Managing and minimising the risk to the company and the client in regard to the shipments. ( This includes, but is not limited to taking proactive action to ensure that any delays to shipments are minimised).
    • Understanding and effectively looking after the clients’ interests and keeping them informed of all relevant developments in the industry and the impact these will have on the client’s business.
    • Ability to learn Clients IT systems if interface is required.
    • Establishing and strengthening good business relationship with clients through regular visits,  in conjunction with the Export Manager
    • Recording of all client visits / calls on Cargo - wise.
    • Resolving queries on Invoices with the clients as well as with Credit Control and  Accounts personnel ( this will include resolving and finalizing WIPS and accruals)
