    Rand Water invites undergraduate students who are interested in joining the Water Sector an opportunity to apply for the 2025 External Bursary Scheme for following disciplines:  

    • B Comm Accounting/Finance: 3rd Year x1
    • B Comm Corporate Communication 2nd Year x1
    • BSc Hons Microbiology: 2nd Year x1
    • BSc- Chemistry:2nd Year x2
    • BSc (Chem Eng/Chem/Biochem): 3rd Year x2
    • BSc (Hons) Hydrology/Modeling: 4th Year x1
    • BSc Degree Natural Science(Environmental Education): 3rd Year x2
    • Diploma Electrical: 2nd Year x2
    • B Eng Maintenance Engineering: 2nd Year x3

    Minimum Requirements

    • South African citizens.
    • Previously disadvantaged individuals (ACI).
    • Have Passed Matric or equivalent and currently studying within one of the aforementioned fields of study.
    • Meet minimum average of 65% and academic performance in major subjects.
    • Not in possession of other bursary/funding
    • Applicant must be under the age of 35 years
    • Applicants must be full-time students at registered and recognized tertiary educational institution.

    Water and Wastewater Treatment Process Operations Learnership Programme: NQF Level 2 x 25

    Minimum Requirements

    • Applicants must not be employed.
    • Applicants must not be enrolled with any institution for a qualification nor be registered in any Learnership Programme.
    • Applicants must not be in possession of a completed post-matric qualification
    • (NB: Failure to disclose post-matric qualifications will result in applicant being disqualified)
    • Applicants in possession of a post-matric qualification must not apply and will not be considered.
    • Applicants must have a Matric (Grade 12) with Mathematics and Physical Science (minimum of Level 3 in ALL subjects)

    Primary Duties

    • Assisting in the operation and maintenance of water and wastewater treatment plants.
    • Monitoring water and wastewater quality parameters.
    • Conducting basic laboratory tests.
    • Assisting in the maintenance of equipment and instruments.
    • Participating in water and wastewater sampling and analysis.
    • Attending classes as part of the learnership program.
    • Participating in discussions and activities during classes.
    • Completing assignments and projects as required.
    • Writing assessments and practical logbook to evaluate knowledge and understanding.

    Senior Gardener X3 - Johannesburg

    Minimum Requirements

    • Grade 12 or NQF level 3 in an appropriate field and 12 months relevant horticultural experience
    • Ability to operate specialised horticultural machinery such as chainsaws, Ride-on mower etc.
    • Basic safety knowledge and ability to complete tasks in time without constant supervision.
    • Code 08 / EB driver’s licence and ability to pass RW K53 driving test.

    Primary Duties

    • Installation and maintenance of irrigation systems.
    • Maintenance of indoor plants.

    Compliance and Risk Manager

    Minimum Requirements

    • 4 years’ relevant tertiary qualification in either Commercial Studies, Regulatory compliance, Legal studies.
    • Master’s Degree is an added advantage
    • 7 + years’ experience in Legal or Compliance management or related functions
    • Proven experience and good working knowledge of regulatory compliance management processes and techniques, including identifying, creating, establishing and maintaining a regulatory universe, implementing of risk management plans, creating a monitoring program, drafting of policies, implementing and performing compliance training is a necessity;

    Primary Duties

    • Identifying, establishing and maintaining the COO regulatory universe (and how it impacts other regulations), assist with the drafting of risk management plans and assist business with the implementation of such plans;
    • Taking primary responsibility for design of and implementing of systems and controls to ensure compliance with all relevant legislation and regulations impacting on Rand Water;
    • Developing action plans to respond to regulatory changes and to address shortfalls in compliance;
    • Liaise with executive management and shareholder via the relevant established governance structure with regards to the Portfolio’s and sustainability.
    • Promote a compliance culture within the COO Portfolio.
    • Draft Compliance Risk Control Assessments for all legislation on the Regulatory Universe
    • Drafting Regulatory Report and conduct legal and impact analysis of new legislation
    • Collaborate with line management to advice and enhance facilitation of discharging responsibilities in order to:
    • Protect the Portfolio’s reputation from potential non-compliance sanctions and penalties
    • Avoid legal actions
    • Promote a coordinated working relationship with business regulators
    • Prevent unethical, illegal or improper conduct
    • Promote the use of the compliance hotline
    • Promote awareness campaigns and road shows in order to enhance understanding of new and existing compliance requirements
