    Boilershop Team Leader

    Job Description

    The Boilershop department currently has a vacancy for a hardworking, reliable individual to join their team as a Boilermaker Team Leader. 

    Duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:

    • Ability to read, understand and interpret fabrication drawings in order to fabricate new components
    • Attend, oversee and assist with repairs and maintenance of existing components
    • Assist Management with coordinating repairs and maintenance tasks onsite or offsite
    • Assist Management with ensuring that all team members comply with the safe working procedures
    • Provide daily feedback on work status to Management
    • Submit Cworks requests to ensure quality and planned maintenance
    • Support Management in ensuring compliance to timekeeping, productive output, discipline and work programs
    • Facilitate logistics of jobs with the goal of reducing standing time, including coordination with other departments
    • Monitor quality and efficiency of teams work programs and report any issues or possible improvements
    • Any other tasks or adhoc duties, as agreed with the department management, suited to this level of leadership

    Qualifying Criteria:

    • Grade 12 or equivalent
    • Must have a relevant trade test certificate in Boilermaking/Welding
    • Minimum 10 years’ experience as a Qualified Boilermaker/Welder in a similar environment (Steel and or Industrial environment)
    • Valid driver’s license
    • Extensive knowledge of power tools
    • Knowledge and adherence to Occupational Health and Safety Rules and regulations
    • Ability to work under challenging conditions
    • No fear of heights
    • Excellent communication skills (understand, read and write in English)

    Qualified Turner - Epping

    Job Description

    • The Machine Shop department currently has a vacancy for a detail orientated, process-driven, dedicated individual to join their team.

    Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

    • Examine detailed drawings or specifications to establish job, material and equipment requirements
    • Perform routine and preventative maintenance practices on existing equipment
    • Ability to strip, examine and identify mechanical defects on equipment under repair
    • Operate machines to produce parts or tools by turning, boring, milling and or shaping
    • Slotting or drilling metal stock or components
    • Ensuring that the quality of work is up to the required standards
    • Fit and assemble metal parts and tools or sub- assemblies
    • Set up and/or operate hand and machine tools
    • Check accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools or sub-assemblies
    • Abide by the regulations as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act

    Qualifying Criteria

    • Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
    • Qualified Red Seal Trade Test certificate
    • Minimum of 8 years post trade test work experience within a similar environment

    • Strength to handle materials and tools (physically fit)

    CNC Machinist - Epping

    Job Description

    • Fit and assemble metal parts and tools or sub- assemblies
    • Set up and / or operate hand and machine tools
    • Check accuracy and quality of finished parts, tools or sub-assemblies
    • Abide by the regulations as set out in the Occupational Health and Safety Act

    Qualifying Criteria

    • Minimum Grade 12 education or equivalent
    • Relevant Red Seal Trade Test certificate would be advantageous
    • Minimum of 5-8 years relevant working experience within the engineering or metal industry
    • Knowledge or experience with Mastercam would be advantageous
    • CNC Turning and Milling operating experience is a pre-requisite

    Line Manager (Meltshop)

    Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to

    • Manage the Meltshop team to achieve set production targets within stipulated standards
    • Must be responsible for minimising of non- productive time
    • Analyse given reasons for periods of non-production against metrics,
    • Confirm findings / conclusions with team members
    • Communicate operating plan to meet production goals
    • Communicate company and departmental policies
    • Frequent feedback to Senior management on shift and plant performance
    • Attend daily morning production meeting, evaluate, liaise with Engineering on priority requirements and take decisive action.
    • Follow up on unfinished tasks, (in terms of housekeeping and safety), with responsible section, demand quality workmanship, communicate with relevant supervisor if required
    • Evaluate PTO’s and initiate corrective action where required, record and file with Production Manager
    • Ensure teams are supported through empowerment and accomplishment
    • Manage teams responsibility with respect to safety, i.e.: issue of PPE, timeous execution of monthly safety element inspections
    • Promote sound safe working procedures and labour relation practices at every opportunity
    • Provide guidance to team Supervisors through empowerment
    • Interfaces with service department teams where production or safety may be at risk
    • Manage performance management scheduling
    • Compile shift report including general incidents (delays and breakouts, etc.)
    • Interpret, plan and implement cleaning & maintenance schedules (Housekeeping)
    • Ensure shift handover is conducted thoroughly and that all issues are reported clearly
    • Required to work overtime as determined by the plant operational status
    • Abide by the regulations as set out in O.H.S.A. and company policies

    Applicants must have the following qualifying criteria:

    • Matric (Maths compulsory)
    • Tertiary education in metallurgical or chemical industry will be an advantage
    • Strong aptitude for science and mathematics
    • Basic knowledge of mechanical and electrical engineering principles and practice
    • Must be computer literate (Microsoft Office)
    • Excellent Communication skills (verbal, written and presentation)
    • Minimum 8 years’ experience in a production or mechanical environment;
    • A motivated, self-driven individual able to perform well with minimum supervision;
    • Ability to work under challenging conditions
    • Must have basic knowledge of Health & Safety Rules
    • In good health, physically fit

    • Minimum 8 years’ experience in a production or mechanical environment
