    Customs Specialist (6-Months Temporary)

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The successful incumbent will be responsible for the efficient coordination and communication of shipping details, particularly stock in transit, to S&OP and OTC specialists, liaising with clearing agents, customs officials and primary transport service providers to ensure smooth operations.

    Duties will include the following:

    • Manage the movement of imports and exports while ensuring compliance with relevant procedures across all business units
    • Provide guidance on import tax and duties by maintaining strong relationships with the South African Revenue Service (SARS)
    • Collaborate closely with trade control to secure necessary permits for product transportation
    • Coordinate airfreight or sea freight shipments as needed, optimizing cost-efficiency
    • Verify invoices received from clearing agents for accuracy before submitting them for payment processing
    • Track foreign orders and shipments diligently, updating costs in our SAP system
    • Maintain accurate records of new purchase orders on a register spreadsheet
    • Interface effectively with Clearing House upon successful clearance of shipments through South African Customs
    • Prepare payments for Customs VAT and Clearing Charges to be submitted to the Clearing House

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Having completed Matric (grade 12) is required
    • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of proven experience in import management and customs clearing field
    • Demonstrated proficiency and extensive knowledge in the realm of shipping and logistics
    • Excellent communication skills enabling effective collaboration across various stakeholders
    • Proficiency in SAP or similar inventory management systems
    • Strong attention to detail coupled with exceptional organizational abilities

    Order to Cash (OTC) Specialist

    RESPONSIBILITIES

    The successful incumbent will support sales growth through effective customer service and drive supply chain processes as well as provide solutions in terms of supply chain operations. The successful incumbent will be the main point of contact to allocated customers / products / SBU’s and their responsible sales colleagues.

    Duties will include the following:

    • Sales Order Management (per respective order strategy MTS, MTO, MTF, MTB) including order receipt, timely acknowledgement, availability check, order entry and FIFO allocation in close contact with related parties within BASF. Keeping customer updated with regular information pertaining to orders and shipments. Guiding sample process and relevant sample stock.
    • Credit Management: monitoring customer over-dues and support in resolving account related queries. Effective communication with CRM Team with regards to FSCM process to ensure proactive in-house resolves.
    • Customer Master data management: ensure master data is always up to date and optimized.
    • Non-Conformance Management: process non-conformance with relations to the OTC process and order adjustments.
    • Resolution of all sales and/or customer related queries. On-time, accurate and visible reporting on required business unit and team reporting.
    • Inventory management through supporting S&OP with monitoring and balancing supply and demand while in full support in giving input to aging stock as well as efficient material and batch management; at the same time ensuring that DIVs are adhered to and monitored together with S&OP Planner.
    • Accurate and efficient entry of order; automation of SD processes (PPI).
    • Support in initiatives on rolling out and implementation of the GB/OS Customer Service strategy.
    • Adhere to and align with Global Sales required KPIs.
    • Be responsible and accountable in ensuring that backup is sufficiently trained as per the OTC SOPs and respective BU desk profile, and that emergency communication channels are established.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    • Bachelor's degree in Business, Logistics & Supply Chain or equivalent tertiary education
    • Minimum 3 years of experience with Customer Services & Supply Chain in Southern Africa Market
    • Solid SAP experience and sufficient Microsoft Office computer skills
    • Excellent interpersonal skills
