    Electrical Technician/CAD designer

    Description

    Job Summary:

    Electrical Design and technical assistant to produce electrical building services designs for multidisciplinary projects and assist with on site surveys, measurements, construction progress and quality inspections.

    Will work under the supervision of an engineer.

    Construction Engineer

    Job Summary:

    GIBB requires a Professional Construction Engineer in the Rail EPCM Environment who will be responsible for managing and overseeing construction projects related to rail infrastructure, such as railway lines, bridges, tunnels, stations, and other rail facilities. They work closely with architects, design engineers, project managers, and contractors to ensure that construction projects are designed, planned, and executed effectively. 

    Key Responsibilities:

    • Managing and overseeing the construction phases of rail infrastructure construction projects from start to closeout.
    • Collaborating with architects, design engineers, and project managers to ensure that projects are designed and planned to be constructed simply, safely, and effectively.
    • Ensuring that the construction phase is completed within budget and on time.
    • Ensuring that rail infrastructure projects meet regulatory requirements and adhere to safety, reliability, and sustainability standards.
    • Collaborating with contractors and subcontractors to ensure that rail infrastructure projects are executed effectively, and managing any issues or conflicts that arise.
    • Managing the process to ensure claims are minimised and any potential disputes are resolved swiftly and amicably.
    • Ensuring that all project documentation, including design drawings, specifications, and reports, are maintained and up to date.
    • Identifying opportunities for process improvements and cost savings and making recommendations to senior management.
    • Conducting regular project team meetings and providing guidance and support to team members.
    • Ensuring that all project stakeholders are kept informed of project progress and any changes to the project plan.
    • Managing and monitoring project risks and developing risk mitigation plans as needed.

    Requirements

           Qualifications and Experience 

    • Degree or BTech (Civil, Elec, Mech) (copies of results to be provided)
    • Experience within the Construction Environment
    • Matric.(copies of results to be provided)
    • 10 – 20 years Construction and Resident Engineer experience
    • Registered with ECSA as a Professional (copy of registration to be provided)
    • Registered with SACPCMP (PrCPM advantageous) (copy of registration to be provided)

    • Have a strong technical background in rail infrastructure construction engineering, as well as excellent project management, communication, and problem-solving skills
    • Must be able to work independently.
    • Effectively manage multiple rail infrastructure projects simultaneously, communicate with stakeholders at all levels, and manage project risks and issues
    • Must be able to guide and lead supporting staff.
    • Have knowledge of construction processes and standards, as well as experience with contract management and project budgeting

    Materials Technician

    Description

    This includes high-capacity freeways, interchanges and bridges, airport pavements, rural roads (including low volume and haul roads) and municipal infrastructure. The team is supported by transportation and traffic engineers, geotechnical and material engineers, and other specialists.

    Assisting the Laboratory manager with the efficient operation of the site laboratory

    •  Laboratory Reports

    Project Manager

    Core Purpose

    This position liaises with the Project Steering Committee, Procurement Manager and Officers, Engineers, Project Team Members, Clients, Sub-Consultants, Quantity Surveyors, Project Controls Manager, Suppliers and Contractors. The successful candidate will report to the General Manager.

    Job Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor Degree in Engineering
    • Professional Registered with ECSA
    • Project Management qualification with NEC and FIDIC contract knowledge and experience and registered with PMI or SACPCMP

    Experience:

    • Minimum of 10-15 years of engineering experience.
    • Minimum 5-10 years of EPCM / EPC Project Management experience in multi-disciplinary execution projects
    • Must have completed a minimum of one mega project in an EPCM Project Manager role, from cradle to grave.
    • Sound EPCM /EPC Project Management knowledge
    • Contract Management knowledge and development of different forms of Contract
    • Excellent negotiation skills
    • Proven experience in the delivery of EPC/EPCM projects
