    Laboratory Technician - Tembisa

    Work Description

    • The Laboratory Technician is responsible for maintaining Laboratory Systems and conducting Laboratory Procedures for Research Studies.  The incumbent will regularly perform to provide technical support work perform routine and stat analyses of samples within the Clinical Pathology laboratory environmental a higher level of expertise in carrying out difficult, advanced or complex testing and is required to train other Technical/Professional Personnel and/or Function.

    Job Function

    • Knowledge: MS Excel, Knowledge: MS Word
    • Receive labelled and captured samples on LIMS/LDMS
    • Record keeping and filling in compliance with studies specific requirement and, GCLP
    • Knowledge: Instrumentation and Methodologies
    • Provide technical support within laboratory in order to ensure the efficient flow of specimens and timeous resulting of specimen.
    • Compile laboratory reports and study specific reports as needed by the lab manager.
    • Troubleshooting, managing and/or preventing any lab-related problems or issues that arise and ensure corrective and preventative actions are taken as required.
    •  This includes implementation of internal QC processes and participation in external quality assurance (EQA) activities
    • Conduct independent research under the supervision of Medical Technologist and Scientists.
    • Promote harmony, teamwork and sharing of information via team meetings.

    Key job Responsibility 

    • Oversee and implement safe working conditions and staff training in laboratory safety.
    • Decontamination procedures must be followed
    • The decontamination of benches, biohazardous spills, and instrument decontamination spills is guaranteed 100% of the time.
    • Compliance on recording of temperature readings in accordance with relevant SOP’s
    • Daily receive, sort, and prioritize patient samples according to laboratory SOP
    • Daily analyses patient samples according to laboratory SOP
    • Daily filing and storage of specimen
    • Checks abnormal results according to laboratory SOP and reports results according to SOP
    • Prepare quality control material(IQC) as per lab SOP and run routine IQC sample as per SOP and EQA
    • Prepares stains and slides for specialized testing
    • Daily documents data in own area of work.
    • Ensure sufficient stock is available as per guidelines

    Requirements

    Education

    • SMLTSA/HPCSA Certificate 
    • Registered with HPCSA in Clinical Pathology as a Medical Technician
    • Grade 12 / NQF   or Bachelor of Health Sciences in Medical Laboratory Science qualification at NQF level

    Advantageous

    • Knowledge of principles of Good Clinical Practice (GCP) and Good Clinical Laboratory Practice (GCLP) and International Air Transport Association (IATA)
    • Knowledge of Laboratory information management systems (LIMS) or similar laboratory information system.

    Experience

    • Minimum of 3 years post qualification experience, with 2 years in clinical research trials in TB, SARS CoV-2  and HIV.

    Requirements

    • Working knowledge of lab accreditation and experience working with external auditors or monitors.
    • Attention to detail, ability to work under pressure, good administration skills including report writing, work independently within minimal supervision.

    Data Capturer - Durban

    Work Description

    • The Data Capturer will work with facilities and will ensure that key data quality dimensions such as validity, reliability, integrity, precision, timeliness, accuracy, worth, completeness, confidentiality and ethics are met for all data collected at facility and community levels.     Enrolled Nurse - Kimberley

    Work Description

    • The Enrolled/Staff Nurses is responsible for providing on-site and hands on gaps analysis, QI coaching to TB focal staff and facility staff, analysis of TB Indicators as well as assist in the co-ordination and management of QI Projects within supported facilities within a District. They will have a dual function in providing direct service delivery within the TB program at CHC level to update data recording systems and linkage to care activities as specified by Quality Improvement Advisor and Program Manager for project.

    NIMDDR-TB Coordinator - Kimberley

    Work Description

    • The NIMDR-TB coordinator is responsible for on-site and hands on mentorship of TB focal nurses, assist with refresher courses and updating nurses on changes in the DR-TB program. Inclusive support in the Clinical Governance that includes assisting with conducting clinical assessments/folder reviews, TB program gaps analysis, assisting with remedial action plans and quality assurance activities at all levels of care.     Group Chief Global Health Officer

    The Primary Objectives of the C-CGHO are to:

    • Lead the strategic direction of Aurum’s Global Health portfolio in infectious diseases, primarily focused on TB and HIV, global health security, antimicrobial resistance, and occupational and non-communicable diseases.
    • Supervise and coordinate technical specialists and project managers working across Aurum’s country offices and affiliate companies.
    • Oversee the implementation of multi-country (or signature single-country) and cross-cutting global health programs in conjunction with the Group Chief Operations Officer and Group Chief Science Officer.

    Medical Officer Doctor - Durban

    General responsibilities

    • The role of the Medical Officer is to provide clinical oversight on the management of TB (DS and DR-TB) patients including comorbidities with HIV, Covid- 19, chronic lung diseases, diabetes and HIV . This includes capacity building, clinical audits, ADSM, and supporting the DCXR teams. The MO will report directly to the assigned SR supervisor in the SR-HO who will approve plans and monitor progress against targets. In addition, the MO will work closely with the sub district TB or HAST Manager and provide reports to the direct supervisor and sub-district TB manager.

    Key Performance areas

    Management

    • Develop a district operational plan clear timeframes, outputs and responsibilities
