    Fitter - Middelburg

    Description

    • The incumbent performs a wide variety of tasks related to the operation and maintenance of the plant's mechanical systems, fixtures and appliances to ensure maximum plant availability and efficiency on a 2HR basis.  The shift fitter will be required to be the first line of defense and support production and the maintenance teams in the relevant area.

    Requirements
    PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:  

    • Physically fit, working on heights and confined spaces are required;
    • Tolerance for stress and sense of urgency;
    • Motivated self-starter with the ability to think analytically;
    • Flexible and willing to work shifts as per the official Columbus shift system;
    • Must have sound knowledge of planned mechanical maintenance principles.;
    • Cold Products process and equipment knowledge will be an advantage;
    • Adherence to safety rules and policies.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

    • Must have a relevant trade test as a Fitter with a minimum of 3 years' experience;
    • Knowledge of and able to apply mechanical fundamentals and mechanical fundamentals and mechanical principles;
    • Ability to communicate effectively with co-workers, shift managers and customers;
    • Sound mechanical fault finding skills;
    • Knowledge of basic hydraulics and pneumatics;
    • Perform planned maintenance tasks, breakdowns and maintain relevant maintenance systems.

    Laboratory Millwright - Middelburg

    Description

    • The Shift Millwright is responsible to provide maintenance support to the Laboratory and maintenance teams in the relevant areas.  The Shift Millwright is the first line of defense.  Breakdowns and inspections are performed regularly and standby is required.

    Requirements
    PERSON SPECIFICATIONS:

    • Must have at least 4 years' post apprenticeship experience as a Trade tested millwright;
    • Must be able to work under pressure;
    • Must be able to work independently;
    • Must be computer literate;
    • Must be a team player, able to communicate at all levels;
    • Good experience on mechanical electrical/electronic and instrument related equipment will be an added advantage.

    JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

    • The safe maintenance and fault finding on Laboratory equipment will be expected and this includes a wide range of specialized analytical, mechanical, electrical and instrumentation related equipment;
    • Experience on robotic equipment will also be an added advantage.
    • Must be able to do standby for the total laboratory regarding the above mentioned equipment.

    Program Manager - Strategy (Middelburg)

    Description

    The overall responsibility is to provide input and direction to the team leaders of the various business improvement projects. The Manager: Strategic Programs is responsible for coordinating multiple inter-connected business improvement projects executed by cross-functional teams, with the objective of ensuring that these projects are completed in time and to a high quality standard.

    • Coordinate cross-project activities, and specifically manage and coordinate the availability of human resources shared between the projects teams.
    • Assist project owners in the formulation of projects in accordance with corporate directions.
    • Liaise with and assist the project owners in the development, management and reporting of the projects charters.
    • Communicate and liaise with the Strategy Department in Madrid regarding project progress.
    • Liaise with the Columbus Finance Department as well as Columbus Manufacturing to ensure the correct benefit calculations for all projects, as well as for the follow-up of the projects.
    • Apply change, risk and resource management.
    • Prepare reports for project owners, Columbus senior management, and Acerinox senior management.

    Requirements

    • The ideal candidate will be an excellent leader and will have experience in leading staff of different disciplines to produce results in a timely manner. They will also be able to develop efficient strategies and tactics for ensuring that projects are completed on time and to a high quality standard.
    • A minimum of 5 years proven project management experience with at least some program management experience is required. Project management experience must include experience in managing multi-disciplinary teams and functions.
    • Highly effective people management, team building and communication skills (written and spoken).
    • Thorough understanding of project/program management techniques and methods.
    • Excellent knowledge of performance evaluation and change management principles.
    • Excellent knowledge of MS Office; working knowledge of program/project management software (Primavera P6, MS Project etc.) is a strong advantage.
    • Outstanding leadership and organisational skills.
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Excellent problem-solving ability.
    • BSc/BEng/BIT or any NQF level 7 degree with specialisation in project management. Additional or specialised project management qualifications (e.g. PPM, PMP, MPM) will be an advantage.
