    Enrolled Nurse (EN) - General Practice - Cape Town

    Introduction    

    • Our client, a well-known private healthcare group, is urgently looking for Enrolled Nurses with proven work experience in general wards/general private practice. This is a permanent opportunity at several private general practice facilities in Cape Town (Milnerton, Blaauwberg and Century City) in the Western Cape and Port Elizabeth/Gqeberha in the Eastern Cape

    Requirements    

    • Grade 12
    • Diploma/Degree in nursing leading to qualification as Enrolled Nurse
    • 2 - 3 years experience within a clinical environment is essential
    • Valid SANC licence
    • Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and Outlook)

    Key Outputs    
    The candidate should conduct duties with empathy, respect, and openness. The focus of the position is to perform all nursing duties in accordance with the scope of practice as prescribed by the South African Nursing Council, while adhering to all facility policies and procedures.

    • Assist the Medical Practitioner in the pre-screening, treatment and care of patients
    • Assist Medical Reception in prioritising medical emergencies
    • Actively maintain stock management processes
    • Participate in monthly stock cycle counts
    • Maintain emergency trolley in accordance with company policies and procedures
    • When scheduled to work, act as the responsible person after hours to ensure smooth operations and escalate to the practice manager as and when required

    Emergency Care Assistant (ECA)- Brits

    Requirements    

    • Higher Certificate in Emergency Medical Care is essential
    • American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Health Care Providers serves as an advantage
    • 1-year operational experience as an Emergency Care Assistant
    • A valid drivers’ license and valid Professional Driving Permit (PrDP) (Requirement for Operations shifts. If only going to work events, no PrDP required)

    Required job skills and knowledge:

    • Knowledge and application of best practice
    • Knowledge of the EMS environment
    • English language skills (verbal and written)
    • Familiar with facilities, travel routes, and geographical area
    • Knowledge and application of HPCSA guidelines and scope of practice
    • Working knowledge and experience of Patient Report Forms
    • Upholds high ethical and professional standards

This position is an entry-level qualification and recognises the key competencies required of Emergency Care Assistants (ECAs) who will work under the guidance of Emergency Care Technicians, Emergency Care Practitioners and Medical Officers in a variety of contexts.  In general, the Emergency Care Assistant will provide a supportive service within the pre-hospital context.

    • Ensures operational readiness for emergency calls
    • Administers patient care in line with the ECA scope of practice
    • Report near misses, slips and adverse event
