    Employee Relations Manager - North West

    Purpose of Role

    • To oversee and manage the relationships between Tharisa Minerals and its employees by promoting a positive working relationships, handle employee grievances, ensure compliance with labour laws, and implement strategies to enhance employee engagement and satisfaction. To collaborate with various stakeholders; including HR the department, management teams, and labour unions; and initiate appropriate intervention functions such as training, advancement, trend analysis, and orientation to ensure legal compliance and the effectiveness integration of all processes and outputs across Tharisa Minerals, ensuring a harmonious and productive work environment.

    Role Context

    Operational Management

    • Provide input to strategic plans of the section by compiling comprehensive operational plans, converting the Department into an enabler of the overall business strategy of the organisation.
    • Keep abreast of changes in relevant guidelines and other legislation, to make recommendations where policies, processes and/or procedures require amendment.
    • Develop, enhance and implement policies, processes and Operational procedures that are within the respective Department aimed at the enhancement of service delivery and overall productivity within the Department.
    • Develop, implement, and maintain effective employee relations (ER) strategies aligned with the organisation's goals and values, to ensure that the employees requirements are continuously understood and met in accordance to the Tharisa Minerals (TM) policies and procedures.

    Financial Management

    • Analyse all relevant Department data and report on Departmental trends and operating requirements so as to determine funding requirements for the financial year.
    • Monitor short-term Departmental budgets by scrutinising and aligning spend within the Department, to support and drive effective and efficient functioning within budgetary constraints.
    • Monitor Departmental expenditure against budget allocations, requesting appropriate reallocation as required, to manage the prevention of unnecessary spend.
    • Comply with all financial, Supply Chain Management (SCM) and other TM regulations and policies by facilitating the right actions, to reduce financial risk in the Department.

    People Management

    • Create and maintain a conducive work environment by appropriately applying Human Resources policies and procedures to ensure optimum performance is realised for the benefit of the Department and, by extension, the organisation.
    • Lead the team according to TM’s leadership principles and values throughout the entire employee life cycle (performance management, reward etc.) to ensure, inter alia, a high[1]performance culture.
    • Collaborate with Human Resources (HR) and management teams to implement performance management processes, ensuring fairness and consistency in performance evaluations.
    • Identify training needs related to ER and collaborate with the Learning and Development (L&D) team to develop and deliver relevant workshops or sessions, so as the address the required training needs of the Tharisa Workforce.
    • Promote a positive workplace culture that values diversity, inclusion, and equal opportunities for all employees, so as to ensure that all employees feel valued and accommodated with TM.

    Stakeholder Relations

    • Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders to ensure information, advice or opinions on relevant matters is made available and/or communicated with all relevant stakeholders, to manage expectations and timelines.
    • Utilise opportunities presented to enhance the relationship between management, unions and employees, and implement processes to maximise a collaborative working relationship.
    • Create initiatives to enhance employee engagement, job satisfaction, and overall wellbeing in the workplace, so as to drive a positive working culture and climate within TM.

    Compliance Management

    • Stay up-to-date with South African labour laws, regulations, and industry standards to ensure the company's policies and practices are compliant with relevant legislation.

    Employee Relations Management

    • Facilitate the resolution of employee grievances and workplace disputes in a fair and impartial manner, by promoting open communication and constructive problem-solving that will build a more transparent, objective and inclusive culture within TM.
    • Participate in collective bargaining negotiations with labour unions to establish and maintain a productive working relationship between the company and its workforce.
    • Develop effective communication channels to foster transparency, disseminate information, and encourage feedback from employees.
    • Oversee disciplinary procedures to ensure they are carried out in accordance with company policies and legal requirements.
    • Mediate and resolve conflicts between employees or between employees and management, so as to ensure that all conflict resolutions are conducted in a fair and just manner.
    • Conduct employee surveys to gather feedback and identify areas for improvement in ER and organisational culture, so as to address problem areas and build a more inclusive organisational culture.
    • Provide expert insight and services regarding to the industrial relations discipline, including litigation, systems, practices and processes, so as to ensure that such disciplinary processes are managed according to the appropriate TM policies and procures.

    Requirements

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's Degree (NQF7) or equivalent in Employee Relations and Labour Law

    Job specific experience:

    • Minimum of 5-7 years Human Resources or Employee Relations experience, of which at least two (2) years should be within the Mining Industry
    • Ability to work with the full Microsoft suite (i.e., Excel, Word, PowerPoint, etc.)

    Quality Technician - North West

    Job Role

    • Testing and inspecting products or materials at different stages of production using various methods and equipment
    • Reporting and documenting any defects, errors, or deviations from the expected quality
    • Recommending and implementing corrective actions or improvements to prevent or reduce quality issues
    • Maintaining and calibrating test equipment and instruments
    • Following and enforcing quality control policies and procedures
    • Collaborating with other quality control staff, supervisors, and production workers
    • Conducting Measurements reports for input raw material and output product
    • Use of SPC to control the quality of the product and process
    • Application of material engineering specification(SCAFF or Spec tender document)
    • Daily Monitor that quality inspection sheets are followed and documented
    • Conduct process & product audit(Work instruction, FMEA, control sheets , Process flow & Bill of Material & SCAFF)
    • Testing finished product & when they’re faults on the system
    • Ensure tools and machinery are calibrated
    • documentation of data and analyzes report
    • Involved in production problem solving and reporting back to management
    • IMD's reports
    • Creating Quality sheets for line inspectors and conduct training
    • Daily scrap/Nonconformance meeting to establish a breakpoint and put robust action in place to eliminate the root cause 
    • Conduct operational training using SOP’s
    • Supplier audits

    Requirements

    • Grade 12/ NQF Level 4
    • Degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering /quality management
    • Computer skills especially in the use Microsoft Word and PowerPoint and ability to manage files and records effectively
    • Experience or training in quality control or a related field.
    • Valid driver’s license code 8
    • Computer Literate
