    Metrology Lab Co-Ordinator in Somerset West Cape Town

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

    • Maintain system to ensure calibration controlled instrumentation and gauges.
    • Documentation preparation and maintainace of equipment/instrumentation data base.
    • Verification of instrumentation and gauges,
    • Experience with the verification of mass measuring systems will be an advantage.
    • Dimensional Measurement to ensure specialised gauges are compliant to ordered requirements.
    • Production and development support for measurement equipment verification, torque wrench setting and Gauging.
    • Acceptance of instramentation, capturing of calibration reports on QMS & ERP and maintenance of calibration history.
    • Follow-up with third party accredited calibration sub-contractor to ensure instrumentation and gauges are calibrated and invoices checked against certificates so as to ensure correct payments to third parties.

    WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

    • Trade Certificate in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent
    • 3 – 5 years’ experience in a metrology laboratory or inspection environment.
    • 5 year’s experience in a mechanical manufacturing industry.
    • Experience with hardness test machines will add an advantage.
    • Knowledgeable in the metrology standards and industry practices.
    • Demonstrated ability in the interpretation of geometric tolerancing and engineering drawing requirements.
    • Demonstrated ability in the application of measurement practices and technology.
    • Exposure and understanding of the ISO 9001 Quality Management standards is required.
    • Good communication skills, verbal and written.
    • Knowledge of MS Office (MS Word, Excel and Outlook)

    • PMP Certification would be an added advantage.

    The SHE intern will assist and support the SHE department in all areas of concerns as directed by the SHE Manager.

    • Shadows a mentor on tasks to be able to provide support to the SHE department.

    Fire Officer in Somerset West Cape Town

    WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

    The Fire Officer is responsible to ensure execution of the most effective fire related mitigating measures necessary for the protection of assets, processes and employees through the application of the latest fire related safety techniques, technologies and standards.

    • Execution of the service and maintenance program on portable firefighting equipment to make sure that all equipment is in good working condition and legally compliant.
    • Conduct fire prevention inspections in the factory to make sure that we comply to: SANS 10400, 10087, 10089 and 10090.
    • Prepare, lead, manage and train personnel for emergency response calls e.g. firefighting, first aid, injuries, explosions and chemical spills.
    • Partake in the review of work instructions to ensure that personnel work safely at all times.
    • Partake in fire incident investigations and ensure execution of corrective & preventative measures.
    • Do standbys when the need arise to minimise the risk when there is an incident or high risk activity being undertaken (e.g. hot works).
    • Emergency Response planning & testing.

    • Plant firefighting training to all operational staff.
    • Performance Management for all staff.

    WHAT QUALIFICATIONS YOU SHOULD HAVE

    • Higher Certificate in Fire Technology
    • 2-3 years’ experience working in an industrial fire department 
    • Hazmat Technician Certificate
    • Fire instructor & Assessor/Train the Trainer training
    • First Aid Level 3
    • Ability to function independently in highly pressurized and stressful environments.
    • Good written and verbal communication skills.
    • Knowledge of Fire Safety Bylaws, Disaster Management Act, Fire Protection Regulations, Fire Brigade Services Act, SANS standards & codes of practice.
    • Driving License, minimum code C1.
    • Must be physically fit, have the ability to work at heights, in confined spaces & under limited visual conditions (subject to fitness assessment).
    • Willing to work standby duties as well as planned / unplanned overtime as dictated by working circumstances.
    • Computer literacy: MS Word, Excel, Power Point-proficient level (minimum).
