Job Description
Job Summary Statement Steeledale is primary engaged in the supply of cut and bend reinforcing steel to the building and civil engineering industry, on-site management and fixing of the reinforcing steel subcontract through various PDI fixing contractors as well as a leading manufacturers of wire and welded mesh products used in the construction, engineering, mining, security fencing and agricultural industries.
The incumbent will be responsible to plan, direct and coordinate the operations in the factory environment. Duties and responsibilities include managing daily operations and planning the use of materials, machinery and human resources to ensure that organisational, quality and safety requirements are adhered to.
Minimum Requirements ACADEMIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Diploma or Degree in Business Management
- Tertiary Qualification in Production Management or Engineering field
Experience
- At least 5 years’ experience in management in a manufacturing environment
Duties & Responsibilities
- Develop team members/employees
- Ensure compliance to SHERQ policies, procedures and standards
- Ensure that staff know and understand all company policies and procedures and that they are informed of all business and policy changes
- Identify and implement areas for continuous improvement
- Manage individual and team performance
- Review work orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures, and duty assignments, considering budgetary limitations and time constraints
- Ensure that regular stock takes are conducted
- Ensure that sufficient stock levels are maintained to meet production demands, within the company’s target levels of stock
- Ensure that company housekeeping standards and requirements are adhered to always
- Monitor the production process to ensure early identification and correction of production problems/potential production problems
- Ensure that all tasks are performed in line with production requirements and standards
- Keep team members informed of all operational requirements
- Organise resources to ensure operational effectiveness
- Plan production activities and processes to ensure that work can be completed on time and according to required production standards
- Responsible for developing and maintaining effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Responsible for ensuring all administrative requirements are met
- Responsible for the identification and implementation of cost saving initiatives
- Responsible for the management of the operational costs and ensure adherence to the prescribed budget
- This position will require operation management time allocation of 80% at Meyerton and 20% at Steeledale Johannesburg (where Steeledale Johannesburg will have an assistant Operations Manager)
