Purpose of the Job: 

• Substation and Overhead Power Line Civil Designs including Earthwork designs. Also undertake access roads and architectural Design. Ability to undertake structural and civil engineering studies and implements solutions meeting client’s requirements. Proficient in Civil design software (Prokon, Model Maker and Road Maker) and draughting software (Autocad, Microstation). Draughting specifications for Geotechnical services and implementing findings in designs.

Key Performance Areas (KPA’s):

• Produce complex civil engineering design solutions (greenfield or brownfield) that details all the technical features, offering innovation and optimization whilst mitigating project design or execution risks. Develop Conceptual, Preliminary, and Detail designs whilst managing the approval process and client delivery expectations. Present at the design committees within the specified timelines to ensure on-time delivery of the final design.
• Manages project design within budget, schedule, and quality requirements. Consult clients on discipline-related issues which include their own designs or other designs. 
• Provide advisory services to clients on all design-related matters.
• Proficient in civil design software such as Prokon, Model Maker, Road Maker. Serve as Civil design technical professional and be able to Lead the civil engineering discipline by offering professional guidance through mentorship, project management, and business development support. Also, provide clients with consultative services.
• Responsible to identify business leads, and opportunities for work, to create Sourcing of Work.
• Become a brand ambassador by contributing to engineering innovation Identifying any internal process shortcomings and recommending corrective steps. Adjudication of tenders and management of sub-contractors.

Minimum Requirements: 

• BSC/BEng Engineering or B Tech in Civil Engineering. Professional registration with ECSA. Overhead Power Lines Design experience and high voltage substations.
• Other competencies and requirements: 5 years of technical experience in Transmission/Distribution for Engineers with BSc/BEng degrees and 7 years of experience for technicians/Technologists. Encourages an organizational culture that embodies TAP Values.

Purpose of the Job: 

• To provide a draughting and design service for substation design as per client specification. Executing application design within the greenfield and brownfield projects. Knowledge of design philosophies and standards.

Key Performance Areas (KPA’s): 

• Design a product for the client that details all the technical aspects of the design and highlights errors. Creation of Control Plant application designs and Proficientin CAD 2D design and detailing of Power Plant HV and MV substations, line structures and components, civil platforms, access roads, drainage, lighting, lightning protection, architectural buildings, mechanical components, structural components, reinforced concrete. 
• Geo-coordinating sites and drawings between CAD and Google Earth. 
• Be responsible for the production of all project drawings upon request to the relevant standards and procedures. 
• Ensure that all drawings and work instructions are kept up to date. 
• Produce Bill of material offs and prepare material lists. Ensure the quality of products and services is maintained and make improvements to the processes where necessary.
• Work under the supervision of the Engineer or Senior Draughtsman. Carry out regular programme monitoring to identify changes in the status of the project.

Minimum Requirements:

• 5-10 Years draughting experience (towers, lines, substations), Microsoft Office. MicroStation, CAD Proficient. Professional registration with ECSA is preferred.
• Overhead Power Lines Design experience and high voltage substations.

Equipment selection and earthing design, insulator and hardware selection, conductor and shield wire selection, material specification and technical support for construction

• Design a product for the client that details all the technical aspects of the design and highlights errors. Proficient in CAD, CDEGS, and other related design tools for substation. Strong knowledge of substation design philosophy and standards.
• Technology selection, site identification, SLD, GA and site plan development. 
• Competent in equipment selection and earthing design, insulator and hardware selection, conductor and shield wire selection, material specification and technical support for construction.
• Knowledgeable in creation of preliminary and final designs for substations, including earth grid designs. Present at the design committees within the specified timelines to ensure on-time delivery of the final design. 
• Conceptualize the design and discuss it with the client for first approval or gain buy-in. Suggest designs that will meet clients’ requirements with minimum costs. 
• Validate all design aspects and processes of all designs. 
• Manages project design within budget, schedule, and quality requirements. 
• Consult clients on discipline-related issues which include their own designs or other designs. 
• Provide advisory services to clients on all designrelated matters. Responsible to identify leads, and opportunities for work, to create Sourcing of

• Identify any further shortcomings and discuss with Line Managers. 
• Leverages experience by mentoring and supporting training.
