Job Description

• Qualified electrician responsible for installing, maintaining, and repairing electrical systems in residential, commercial, and industrial settings. Must hold a valid South African Wiremans License and demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of electrical codes, safety regulations, and industry best practices.

Core Responsibilities

Installation & Maintenance:

• Install, test, and commission electrical systems and equipment
• Perform routine maintenance on electrical installations
• Troubleshoot and repair electrical faults and malfunctions
• Upgrade existing electrical systems to meet current standards

Compliance & Safety:

• Ensure all work complies with SANS 10142-1 (Wiring of Premises) and other relevant standards
• Issue Certificates of Compliance for electrical installations
• Conduct electrical safety inspections and testing
• Maintain accurate records and documentation

Technical Duties:

• Read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications
• Calculate electrical loads and select appropriate equipment
• Install and connect electrical panels, switchgear, and control systems
• Work with various electrical systems (single/three-phase, low voltage)

Required Skills

• Strong understanding of AC/DC electrical theory and principles
• Proficiency with electrical testing equipment and hand tools

Key Qualifications

Essential Requirements:

• Valid South African Wiremans License (issued by Department of Employment and Labour)
• Red Seal Trade Certificate
• Completed electrical apprenticeship or relevant trade qualification
• Minimum 3-5 years post-qualification experience
• Current Certificate of Compliance (CoC) authorization
• Knowledge of SANS electrical standards and regulations

Preferred Qualifications:

• Additional certifications in specialized areas (solar, industrial automation, etc.)
• Motor trade or industrial electrical experience
• Project management experience
• Valid driver's license

Purpose of the Role

• We are seeking a skilled and reliable Electrician Handyman to perform a variety of electrical and general maintenance tasks. The ideal candidate will have strong electrical knowledge, hands-on experience with troubleshooting, repairs, and installations, and the ability to perform other handyman tasks such as basic plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance.

Key Responsibilities:

• Install, maintain, and repair electrical systems.
• Diagnose electrical problems using blueprints, schematics, and testing devices.
• Perform safety inspections and ensure compliance with electrical codes and regulations.
• Conduct general handyman repairs including minor plumbing, drywall repair, painting, and carpentry.
• Troubleshoot and repair appliances, lighting systems, and HVAC units (basic knowledge).
• Read work orders, follow instructions, and maintain accurate job records.
• Respond promptly to maintenance requests and emergencies.
• Provide excellent customer service and maintain a clean and safe work environment.

Job Requirements

• Valid electrician license or certification (if required by local/state regulations).
• Proven experience as an electrician or multi-skilled handyman.
• Strong knowledge of electrical systems, tools, and safety procedures.

• Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Physical ability to lift, climb ladders, and work in tight spaces.

• Experience working in residential and/or commercial maintenance.
• Customer service or client-facing experience.

Working Conditions:

• Work is performed indoors and outdoors, sometimes in tight or elevated spaces.
• May involve occasional evening or weekend work depending on job urgency.
