    Senior Financial Reporting Accountant

    Description

    • The primary responsibility of this position is to prepare annual financial statements(“AFS”) for all funds, review annual financial statements and manage the audit process from beginning to end.  The individual will be required to have a good understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), Luxembourg GAAP and US GAAP to be able to prepare the financial statements.

    Job specification 

    • Be the central point of contact for the auditors.
    • Preparation and distribution of audit timetable based on provisional dates available for the audit, after reviewing of planned audit schedule and liaising with auditors.
    • Preparation of trial balance using reports extracted from Invest One, Paxus, E-front and Allvue.
    • Preparation of interim and annual financial statements using trial balance and other reports extracted from the accounting systems.
    • Compilation of audit pack and other information to be sent to auditors before the start of the audit in accordance with audit timetable.
    • Managing the audit log and audit queries to ensure that all information requested by the auditors is sent to the auditors and is accurate and provided timeously.
    • Follow up on all outstanding issues from the auditors and provide regular feedback to Client Relationship Managers, clients and fund accountants.
    • Update AFS with auditor’s comments and distribute them timeously to auditors.
    • Remaining up to date regarding changes in IFRS and impact on financial reporting

    Skills Required:

    • An accounting qualification (minimum B.Com Accounting or equivalent), together with either 3 years audit experience or fund accounting experience and experience in the preparation of annual financial statements.
    • Advanced level experience in using Excel and MS Word.
    • Proven competence and an aptitude for working with systems.
    • Detailed understanding of International Financial Reporting Standards, specifically IFRS7 Financial Instruments: Disclosures, IFRS9 Financial Instruments: Recognition and Measurement and consolidations and detailed understanding of Luxembourg GAAP.
    • Knowledge of US GAAP will be an advantage.
    • An understanding of funds and fund structures.
    • Knowledge of the hedge fund industry and unit trusts.
    • Experience in the preparation of financial statements.
    • Experience in dealing with clients.
    • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal);

    Senior Workday Security Analyst

    • We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Workday Security Analyst to join our Workday Central Team. As a Senior Workday Security Analyst, you will serve as point of contact for managing and maintaining security across the Workday platform.     Specialist - Security Valuations

    Description

    • The primary responsibility for this position is to manage teams of Fund Accountants who will perform the accounting and administration of all South African priced funds including Unit Trusts, Priced Pooled, Priced Segregated as well as South African Hedge Funds.  The individual will be required to manage staff, assisting with issues coming out of the operations, review of staff work and ensure processes are followed and standards are adhered. This individual will also oversee projects aimed at improving the processes within Fund Accounting. 

    Job specification

    The Position will be expected to: 

    • Deal with client queries and audit queries. 
    • Ensuring the accurate calculation of Fund valuations, including NAV’s and accounting to TB; 
    • Communicating and answering any queries on the Funds from the team; 
    • Manage the output of the team according to the daily production schedule; 
    • Perform valuation quality assurance valuation reviews and ensure consistent quality of output; 
    • Document all processes, checklists  and controls within the team; 
    • Monitor and manage the performance of the team as well as individual team members, including setting up KPI aligned to job description and development of staff.

    • Management of staff in taking on new funds allocated.

    Skills Required:

    • 24 months plus Fund Accounting experience in asset management portfolio administration and pricing;  
    • In addition, the individual should have experience with the various fund types either locally or internationally. 

    IT and Systems Skills and Knowledge: 

    • Advanced level experience in using Excel, InvestOne and other related systems. 
    • Proven competence and an aptitude for working with systems.

    The Role 

    • We are seeking a proactive Administrator to join the Apex Corporate Services team. The successful incumbent will be required to take responsibility for the administration of a client portfolio whilst providing the highest quality of customer service. The candidate will have direct responsibility for servicing a large portfolio of offshore based clients and will work closely with the management team.

    Responsibilities include, but are not limited to performing and coordinating a variety of administrative duties and tasks including:

    • Being an admitted attorney will further strengthen your application.
    • A strong academic background in areas such as Chartered Secretary, Corporate Governance, Compliance, or similar fields is also desirable.
